Vertex does sorta curve down the fenders a little bit, but it sits solely on the trunk as well. edit: I guess you mean it sits on the trunk like the r-magic/evo-r and doesn't overhang the edge.

Just stopping in to stir up flack. USAF Stationed in Glorious Nippon for 3 years now, just sold FD #3 last week and dropped the money down on an '09 Aurora Blue R3 in Austin. Landing in San An around the beginning of April to househunt. Looking to meet up with everyone after that. Picked up a set of RE30 18x9.5j RE30's in Hyper Bronze here and jumped on the Powertrix coilover group buy yesterday. Hoping to hear from one of the forum vendors regarding Seibon Carbon this week as well. Was really bent on getting into Auto-X, but decided I wanted to change too many things with the car to stay in a competetive class. How many Mil-Spec people/total members in the SARX*M area?
Welcome aboard, nice start man. A lot of us (probably half of us) are ex military and we have a few active duty guys. You will arrive just in time, the Texas8 is on April 28th.
So, I guess a few questions about the area... Any good spots near-ish the base to live? (sub 30mins) Looking at a budget around 1K a month for rent (was on the fence about buying a house instead). Not sure of the areas as far as crime/theft etc. Looking hard for a place with a 1+ car garage. I guess gated communities are popular? I'd love any info of good places, or at least places to avoid. You can only rely on websearches for house/apartment listings to a certain degree. Thanks!

Heading to good ol' Lackland, I was looking at a place in Leon Valley the other day with similar numbers. Quite a few places near the Medical Center look nice. I guess I'll keep my eye out in that area, a two car garage would be awesome. Thanks for the heads up 9k.

I like the med center the best but if I had to commute to Lackland everyday I would look into1604 and Patranco or 1604 and Babcock.
I will most likely work at a few different basses and the med center is for the most part smack dab in the middle.

i live in leon valley..... i like it, its peaceful and quiet and the cops are rotary friendly
I have it and its meh... Dunno what all the fuss is about.
For what it costs, it made a huge difference to me. The shifts were shorter and more certain. With the stock shifter, I had an issue with 2nd gear having a "wall" in front of it coming out of first from time to time. As soon as I installed the AFE, that went away. The issue was there again when I reverted back to stock. That was definitely a benefit to me.
I can't really think of anything that offers that much of a value. Maybe an exhaust component if you're really focused on sound or something. The AFE was definitely one of the more significant mods I made.

I really like the feel of the shifts with mine (before 3rd and 5th were too ambiguous) but I wouldn't call it game changing. I wasn't blown away like a lot of people seem to be.
Yeah I have driven a couple of 8's with it and I wasn't blown away. But I did notice a difference with my Voo Doo ****, so maybe I am already used to a shorter throw do to that

If i'm not too sore from helping Shady move,
