Singles Awareness Day is coming up! If you think diamonds are forever you have yet to try out the BHR ignition kit!

Way better, but still not perfect. Somehow an injector O-ring got messed up which was the biggest cause of problems. The spare ICM I bought had failed, so I ended up buying a new one. I replaced the plugs again with a plug that was more recommended... it's a heat range cooler and I gapped them a bit tighter than before, which helped a lot. It still has an occasional misfire at idle, but it's not noticeable without monitoring software to count them. It drives fine except for full throttle. It's great up to about 8 psi and then it starts to misfire and it just falls flat if I do that.

I really miss hitting 22 psi... but I can't complain. It has definitely come a long way and is much more enjoyable than before those repairs. I'm going to meet up with the guy that has the vag-com and try to troubleshoot it with him. Hoping I can figure out it's just a coil at this point, but you know how that turned out last time I thought it might be that.

Dude I think the tune is jacked, it sounds like my car during the tuning phase. Are the tunes for the Audi one size fits all or are they tailored for each build?

Well my rebuilt turbo took a **** already (bad rebuild) so I am sending it back probably this weekend if I can get it pulled. With the turbo and the tune finished up I should be close to 300 at the wheels conservatively but hopefully it will put down more.

The motor is just about broken in, I can't wait to wring her out in the twisties.

Cool, we have not had many meets lately but as things warm up we will. We also have the texas8 coming up so stay tuned for that event, it's a statewide meet of RX-8's held here in the hill country.

We usually we converse here or we will start a thread here in the Gulf forum. There is also the cars and Coffee meet at the Panerja bread company on the last Saturday of the month. That one is my favorite but I probably won't attend until my build is finalized unless I roll with someone else.

It's at Blanco and 1604. I am sure we can get a group together. Mine will be down until the turbo comes back from Turblown but I'm sure we can get a group together to show.

They have both. The "big name" companies (APR, AWE, etc) have off the shelf tunes that are fairly conservative. Of course, most people go with a custom tune these days, which is the case with my car. It had a base file for the first 500 miles (break in) and then they finished the custom tune shortly after that. I know it went through 4 or 5 revisions before it was finished. I just had it at the same shop over the holidays to help figure out all the issues and they did another revision since I was having them code out the rear O2 sensors. I needed the car back, so he wasn't able to really log it a whole lot to really narrow down the issues, but he did look over the tune so I doubt that's the issue. He suggested I replace the spark plugs, but mentioned it might be worth getting a full set of new coils as well. The plugs helped, but didn't fix the full throttle misfire. I'm thinking it might just be a bad coil or 2 at this point, which should be easy to find now.

Once I get a chance to get some logs, I'm hoping to have a better idea. At the very least, I can test different things and monitor any differences. When the tune was revised, the issue with detecting misfires was fixed, so I can at least track down the cylinders with issues and focus on that. The guy helping me has quite a few spare parts and 2 S4's, so there's more than enough working parts to test with. At least that's how I hope things will work out.

Yeah it should be pretty obvious in the logs if it is the coils, there are many ignition related data points to look at. If it were me, I would start with all new coils. My car falls flat on it's face when it sees any boost due to the larger P2 injectors (goes rich as fawk). When we start tuning for boost that will be eliminated.

Cool. My car is filthy, it's depressing. I was going to wash her last weekend and then it got cold.
