ok .... well after 60k miles, my engine is finally come to its demise..... she is starting to show signs that she is going, just like SWG's did before hers blew up... so before the summer hits, i will have a new engine... and ROXIE will be back and better than ever

How exactly does the warranty stuff work? Could you get reimbursement for a certain amount and source the work elsewhere? Or will it only allow them to replace the engine? I don't see why they wouldn't reimburse you up to the value of the engine replacement costs, instead of actually having to do it all. Obviously, you would want the approval for engine replacement first.

get the reman and send that off to be rebuilt. Chances are your housings are garbage, they run close to $750 a piece.

Granted the reman can have shotty housings as well but not as bad as your engine has now.

Hi, I wanted to introduce myself to the locally sarx lounge... my name is Juan, yes another Juan in SA with an RX8, I've lived in SA for over 8 years now recently retired from the Army, making SA my home. I'm from NY raised in PR where Rotary power have ongoing war with the pistons. I'm a shade tree mechanic as hobby, haven't played much with rotory engines, so I'm a newby in rotory power. I recently purchased an 05, base coupe automatic, due to knee issues can really enjoy a manual. Hoping to learn from you guys and make some new friends on the way...! I hope I post this in the right place, already got scalded in a nice way... ja ja ja take care and be safe out there..Juan (4th) .aka "NYRICAN"

Welcome man, glad to have you. Feel free to ask what you want here and will try and answer as nicely as possible

But just hang around, read the threads in my sig and the sticky threads at the top of each subforum and you will gain a lot of knowledge. Performance wise there is not a lot for a 4 port auto but there are plenty of other things you can do.

thanks, roger that been reading around and trying to get some info already... i know the auto, will not get much from performance upgrades, just looking for some sound inprovement and intake... was looking at a catback system and a cold air intake from injen, that has the back cover making the engine bay look clean. but was not sure if the intake will require any other mods to the computer, etc... again thanks lots of good info, got to keep looking around and learn where to find the info... thanks. First start off with the basics to make sure it is running in top notch condition. Plugs, ignition coils, wires, and air filter. Stay away from the Injen intake, it's crap. If you want an intake, get the Racing Beat Revi. Which exhaust you choose doesn't matter a whole lot but the best bang for the buck is the Turbo XS catback/midpipe combo but a 3" exhaust might be too much for a 4 port auto. Try one of the "Ebay" cat backs if you want to save a few bucks, they seem to actually be getting pretty reviews from the people who have bought them.

Also, one of the fastest street driven RX-8's in the country is local to SA and driven by a Puerto Rican His name is Tito, he used to own Alamo Rotary and he has a 3 Rotor 20B Turbo RX-8.
