If you are doing installs and stuff that is different, you could potentially make some cash doing that.

Just a reminder... this is this weekend as well:

Like I said earlier, my friend's graduation party is this weekend so I can't make it, but it sounded like some of you were interested.

Yeah I wanted to hit that up but it's such a far drive in this heat is unbearable.

Save us 2 spots we should be there by 8:00.... and congrats on the new job.

I myself landed a night time gig teaching a class at Hallmark. This Monday I start teaching an Exchange server class. Mondays are lecture at the school from 7:30-10:30 then Wednesdays over the internet for about another 3 hours. Semester is 8 weeks and they are going to pay me $1700

I could use some 2010 classes, we're going to be migrating from 03 to 2010, right now I have one server doing all my mail, really wish the guy who was doing this before me would have thought of building in some redundancy but nope, our environment is littered with single points of failure all over the place that I'm trying to correct

Here is the suggested 'Upgrade' path

1. DO NOT UPGRADE YOUR CURRENT MAIL SERVER!!!!
2. add the Ex 2010 server as a new server in your domain
3. Create a test user/mail account to do your testing on the 2010 server
4. transfer the Roles of the 2003 server to the 2010 server (GAL, RUS)
5. once testing is complete, move the users mailboxes to the 2010 server
6. remove ex 2003 from original server

these are condensed steps but cover the migration in general

Yeah, that was my plan. so is it true 2010 requires 2 servers and 64 bit os? I'd really like to do a cluster type configuration if possible, just don't know any of the requirements for it yet. My boss wants to virtualize everything too so I'm looking into that.

Terminal Services rules. All of my workstations at each office run the latest Ubuntu (no viruses) and connect to the server via terminals services. Works great.

My last job we were inches away from deploying thin clients but it was just too much load on the network, don't know if they ever wound up doing it or not. I don't think it would be a good fit for terminal based clients where I'm at now, we have labs onsite and all kinds of bizarre regulatory requirements that would probably get in the way eventually somehow, I have machines that are "vaildated" and can't even be patched or changed in any way or they invalidate 1000's of dollars (or more) of lab testing/results etc. Pretty crazy stuff, I'm surrounded by phd's and dr.'s and people who are crazy intelligent, yet my hs diploma and mad technical skills fit right in when they can't even figure out how to turn on their new laptops etc.

I manage three clinics, I totally understand. Yeah with labs your hands are tied. My people only access our EHR system. The lab stuff is seprate and reports are just imported in the EHR system.

Linux is a pain in the *** if you have a lot of different hardware. It wouldn't work well with the 8
