I'll wait until after it gets aligned before I figure out if I need spacers or what size, but the fronts are definitely sunk in, rear is pretty much where I like it, any farther in it would look silly, any farther out and I'd be tearing up stuff.

Yup, I'll miss being bagged since it's not a common car to see like that, but I'm pretty stoked with how it sits, driving it today and not having to worry about anything was nice, I can totally get used to going to bed and waking up with the car the same height I left it

Yeah without nitrous for sure I'll have to wait for the turbo to go on and use the nitrous to beat your beast.
I might be overestimating the effects of the weight difference, but I don't think it would take anything too extreme for an FI 8 to keep up from a roll. I'd probably have a bit of an advantage from a stop. Definitely excited to see these FI projects hitting the SARX... looking forward to seeing how the cars turn out. Is there a timeline/goal for completing hoss' build?

Don't want to break any forum rules, so not going to mention too many details.... got compliments from a couple bikes the other night. Was night, so I couldn't make out exactly what they were. One was a yamaha and I couldn't make out the other. I'm assuming the yamaha was a 600... couldn't have been much bigger. He said he doesn't come across many cars that can beat a bike lol... The other was definitely faster so I'd guess it was something like a 750.

Saw something really strange on my way home tonight... I pulled up to a red light in the right lane with another car in the left lane already (older model civic... not that it matters). Shortly after, I see another car coming up behind the civic and it comes to a stop. I check my mirror and notice it's a cop. About 10 seconds after the cop comes to a stop, the civic just starts to slowly drive through the intersection. The light was still red. The cop didn't move for a second and then started to slowly follow the civic through the intersection and flipped his lights on. I really have to wonder what was going through the heads of both the civic driver and the cop. I can only assume the civic didn't see the cop, but not sure why he started to drive through the intersection. It wasn't a normal take of either. He might have reached 5 or 6 mph... more than idling forward but definitely no significant acceleration. I'm guessing cops see some pretty stupid things on a regular basis, but I have to imagine that they still get some entertainment out of things like that. I'd like to hear the explanation to the officer...

I'm really not looking to ever "complete" my build however as far as getting the major components and SC put on/tuned I am not setting a hard time line but have been thinking about SS14. Truth be told I am not in a hurry and wish I could do more of the wrenching.

I have been thinking of coming home early but if I did I would have to live at fort Huachuca AZ for a few months before I could move back to TX so I still wont be back till this fall.

Canary, how did the front bar install go? I updated my springs on the re order to 10k front 8k rear. We will have about the same set up when all is said and done. What size tires are you running?

I don't really have a timeline on his car or mine. I want to do everything right and be as thorough as possible.

If Hoss's springs come in this week I plan on knocking that out this weekend and installing his front sway bar and possibly SS brake lines if I have time.

The front bar wasn't too bad, had to remove the splash shield underneath, and the lower radiator mounts, that and just some general moving around of stuff and it finally came out. We installed the bar with the plastic still on it, then pulled it off after we'd got it through That was probably the most complicated part of yesterday, the coilovers themselves were taking about 30 minutes a wheel, we used a measuring tape to try and guessestimate the ride height and it seemed to work out ok, I think my dampers might be conflicting though so I will have to mess with that this evening, probably going to crawl back underneath and check to make sure everything is still tight, put about 30-40 miles on it yesterday.

My fronts are 235/35 on an 8x5, rear is 265/30 on an 9x5 and they're 19" wheels. Front wheels are +36, rears are +29. I'm thinking of either spacing out the fronts some or maybe even getting bigger dish for them and having 9x5 all the way around I think the only issue with that would be getting them from Japan, but I guess they have offices and such here so maybe it wouldn't be that hard The only other issue would be swapping the lips out, I've never taken apart a 3 piece wheel so I'd probably have to find someone to help with that etc.

Yikes! I am assuming you kept the plastic on to keep it from scratching? Did you have any issues installing the rears? It was kind of a PITA when we did it.

I am not running an aggressive offset at all(+42). I like to run the same size tire and rim front and back for maintenance purposes. I think on last set up J and I measured 13" from center time to lip both front and rear. This may change a little bit once the new springs go on but I really dont want to be much lower.

You sure do have a crazy rim set up! I cant wait to see them in person.

Yup, we were like "hey, want to leave the plastic on? Surely this bright red won't show every single scratch but what the heck, let's go for it..." Meanwhile, bright as red shows everything so that's why we left it on there, it came off no prob once we got the bar through, should have probably took a pic as it looked funny in there all wrapped, I was halfway tempted to leave it on The rears were not that big a deal, there was already some work that had been done to fit our custom brackets for my air cylinders so I had a small path for my adjusters, one thing is for sure, once I set those they're going to be pretty much permanent, it'd be too big a hassle to mess with them once the trunk is put back together.

I looked into swapping my wheel lips, apparently it can get pretty expensive as they recommend replacing the hardware if you do it and those can be as much as 5 bucks a bolt. I think it'd be just as easy to just throw on a nice set of spacers and call it done which is what I will probably wind up doing.

I did have the spare tire kit. If a stock wheel/tire will fit in the trunk, I say that would be the way to go. I didn't like the spare tire kit.
