Bull bar!!

Sorry...I couldn't resist!! :D Sorry about your car Dazy. I'm glad you're ok. Keep your chin up. It will all work out. I do agree with everybody on the MS front bumper. Personally, I'm not a fan of the CF hood.

Who is your insurance company? Insist your car is repaird at a Mazda certified bodyshop.

My insurance is Allstate. I told them that I would choose who will repair it after the adjuster has looked at it. I'm considering taking it to a friend of Mr. Ed's (as long as he is o-kay with it) who can get a discount on parts. :D Then I can do more!!!!! mwahahaha

If you're into that kind of look, go for it. Otherwise, save the cash, touch up your hood and put a new front bumper on the car.
But the hood is already aluminum. The hood of the RX-8 is pretty darn light to begin with.

I am glad to hear you are going to have the adjuster look at it before taking it to a repair shop. You should come out better off finacially that way.

I wouldn't laugh though. The accident was your fault and Allstate will get the last laugh I am sure.

For me personally, any damage that is my fault that I think is going to cost less than a $1500 to repair, I don't claim (not like it happens that often). Uninsured/underinsured motorists and acts of Gods are totally different matters.

Exactly. So you're just doing it for the "Looks cool" factor. To me, it doesnt even look cool. If I wanted to spend that kinda money, I'd get a new flywheel

What does a flywheel do?

Yes, got the pics N-O. Thanks.

I'm not laughing. I know it's my fault. But I'm tired of being in a bad mood and grumpy all day so making a wish list for my 8 makes me feel a little better. At least let me have that Wiggles.

Ok, pretty simple:
A lighter flywheel will make the car rev faster and free up horsepower (note, NOT GAIN HORSEPOWER)..

It lowers the amount of energy required to spin the flywheel thereby increasing the rate at which it can accelerate and revving faster. It feels like your car has more horsepower but it really is just reducing WASTED horsepower lost by spinning a 22lb flywheel.

lol. mazdaspeed flywheel maintains your warranty too if you care about your drivetrain warranty. Otherwise i'd go racing beat or SSR if you plan to turbo.

check rosenthalmazda.com for prices (finishlineperfomance.com)

they run about 4-600

Well, since I do care about my warranties, then I'll go with Mazdaspeed if I can do it. I'd like to go turbo some day, but until then I need all the warranties I can get. Besides, I'll pay twice because I plan on winning some money this weekend!!!

I really think you will be okay in the end on this deal Dazy. Most of the time the insurance company will issue a two party check between you and the body shop for any significant repairs. This is to make it harder for you to just pocket the money.
This is where a private shop can really work in your benefit in that they have no internal red tape. You tell them you want to put a non-oem hood and nose on the car and you want it done nice without paying the deductable. You can't play that on a big shop because they will shoot you down quick.
You would pay the deductable and most likely pay more for any aftermarket stuff.
Martin will get you the best bang for the buck of anyone I know. That's my humble opinion

I think I'm already getting a small taste of it. I'm in a funk and nothing is making me happy. <thinking: MS... MS... MS...> If I don't show up at meets, you'll know something is seriously wrong with me.

I don't know about that. If that's how I'm drowning my sorrows, I'm finding better quality.
