Good service at Prestige, D/FW????
I live in Waxahachie and am scheduled to take my RX-8 into Prestige Mazda on Saturday morning, but when I was talking to the service rep, I asked for my car to be checked to find out if it had the "m" flash (I bought it used about three weeks ago so I don't really know). He didnt know what that was. I also mentioned that I wanted to know if there was a better compressor for the A/C since mine alternates between warm and cold with it on full blast (although I have seen that others here have had the same problem). He said they could check it out, but could not put a better compressor on under warranty. I am just a little concerned since this will be the first time for me to take the car anywhere and they have never serviced it before at Prestige. Also, I need to put oil in it, but my Daddy taught me (yes, I am a Daddy's girl) that I should always put the same brand of oil in. Do the Mazda service dept's all use the same brand?

Keeping the same weight of oil is more important than the brand, but yes I would imagine the dealers carry the same brand since they get it in bulk. Can't talk about the service there, but based on your comments it could go either way. The guy just may not be real familiar with the RX8, or he could know nothing...sorry for the small amount of help.

All cars recently purchased should have the "M" flash. However, if this is the dealership you bought your RX-8 from and they don't know what it is.. then it may not. There should be a sticker on the door or under the hood..
Your A/C issue does not requier a new compressor. What needs to be replaced is the A/C Amplifier. This work SHOULD be done under warranty.
There are TSB's for both of these.. just do a search on bulletins or something.. Print them out and take them over there..
Be friendly with your service rep tho.. The better relationship you have with the reps the better.. I always deal with the same rep.

Hey...found the service bulletin on both the A/C amplifier and the "m" flash. Thanks again. I guess what I was really asking is if anyone takes their car to Prestige and if they like the service department.

Hey by the way...took my car in Saturday. Had to sit and wait for a long time ~3.5 hours for small modifications, but the service was excellent. My service guy wrote down everything that I wanted done, and even made sure that I knew all of the quirks of the car (eg: oil consuption, tire rotations, oil types and change times, engine likes to be revved!!, etc). Although he did ask me where I got the service bulletins because he said they are supposed to be "for their eyes only." My answer...INTERNET. What can't you get on the internet? I even met another RX8 owner and talked her into getting the "M" flash. Already a noticeable difference in my gas mileage, RPMs, smoother shift, and power. Just thought I would let you guys know, this was a great dealership for my first 8 service visit.

Maybe I will see you around...they had to order the part for my A/C so I will have to go back sometime soon. Get ready to wait though. Takes ~3 hours for an oil change on a Saturday.
