Hey there, welcome. Some of us meet up at the 360/183 car show in the best buy parking lot on saturdays. My car is still under construction but I stll drive up there to chat with everyone. Hoping to knock out a lot on the car this week. Im getting married in 2 weeks and Im hoping the car will be "running" by that time so when I get home, all I have to do it tune. Im gonna try and work on it at nights a little more since Im rounding the home stretch of the install. Im sure I can get the piping run with a halogen lamp!

anyone want to buy a greddy profecb boost controller ?

Its the older one with the two dials. I have two, a new profec and this older unit. Wanted to see if anyone local wanted it before i post it up some where

any idea why my car seemed to almost stall today? sitting at a light and then rpm dropped almost stalled then bounced back up. the coils and wires and plugs are all pretty new. Guess it maybe time to use my new compression tester tool

What do you want for it? I was thinking about going with the Blitz one cause it has 4 boost settings but money is tight right now so if its a good deal, Ill just go with yours. Do you have a model number so I can get some info on it?

it only says profecb i can take you some pictures tomrrow or you can come over or something. the instructions are in Japanese though along with the warranty card

sell it for 150$ , my only complaint is that the wastegate control is big.

Cool, as long as its in good condition and has everything that is supposed to be in the kit, consider it sold. Saying that, is it ok if I get from you in a couple weeks? Getting married next week and will be out of town for 2 weeks. Wedding has dried up my funds till I get back. Let me know. Thanks man

Do you think the w/g control would give any clearance issues considering how tight that area is??

clearance is a good question i have no idea where it would be mounted. my friends fd uses the same one but his engine bay is empty compared to ours.

we can play around with seeing a good place to fit it

WHat time is the "car show"? Thinking I might bring out my little stock 8 to look at what shows up. Really wanting to stop by that new Lotus/Aston Martin/Bently dealership off 183N between Anderson Mill and McNiel, some noce rides to look at there.

Everyone usually leave 1431/183 around 9:45 and arrive at 360/183 around 10 or so. I was going to go up but not sure I am anymore. Depends on what I can get done on the car in the next couple hours, and if I can get a boost controller hooked up!

Didnt make it out last night. Was too busy drinking a throwing darts and time got away... ANyway, I was searching the forums today and havent found anything specific to the steering wheel. I'm about sick of the blinding reflection off the mazda emblem stuck to the steering wheel. Has anyone taken that thing off and if so, wat would be the best method for removal. I cant even get a finger nail under that thing to see if i can pry it off. Gonna pull the horn fuse and start chizzling with a flat head before its all over I'm betting...

I need your little hands again! lol! Trying to put the actuator on and I cant get the top freaking screw in. Its right in the middle of the 2 water barbs so its a very tight fit, and when you finally get your hand in there, the hinge of the wastegate digs into the palm f your hand! Dude, my left hand is all kinds of swollen right now! I got one screw on, cant get the other. Put the suction pipe on but I think its on upside down. It curves to the left, I think its supposed to go to the right.

Im heading out there now to try that screw again, Ill get the bastard! I got that one nut on you are talking about. I dont think its as tight as the other 3 but I dont think its going anywhere.

We go to San Antonio when my parents come into town annually and we just usually go to Sea World. Weve been meaning to check out the Alamo and the Riverwalk, but just havent made it down there yet.

Hey guys, I'm a student at UT and I've always loved the rx-8. Now that I actually have enough money to buy a used one I've been doing a lot of research and I'm super confused. Most of my confusion results from the differing opinion on the need to rebuild the rotary engine after a certain amount of mileage. Some people say that this is a very rare occurrence and with proper care can be avoided. Others say that the rebuild is completley neccessary. The second sentiment is renforced by the fact that a majority of the rx-8s on craigslist have a rebuilt engine. So I figured what better place to get a definitive answer then from fellow austinite rx-8 lovers! Thanks for your help.

There seemed to have been some issue with the cars mostly from the early years, although not all of them. 2004-2005. Eventually, the car looses compression due to wearing of the apex seals or carbon build up. Mazda will replace the engine free of charge up to 100,000 or 8 yrs. So, if you're within that time frame, you're covered. Some guys have had their engines replaced 2 or 3 times, but mostly due to some problem with the rebuilt engines or the factory that was rebuilding them..I'm not real sure on that...there are a lot of threads about it.. Maybe someone with more experience/knowledge will chime in.

Suffice to say, not all '04-'05 cars will have a problem. Some guys still have their original engines...

Also, read threads on PRE-MIXING and which type of OIL to use. There are a lot of differing opinions on that...read and be informed. You'll love the car though..

-PreMix
-Check your Oil
-Change your Oil (on time and more often than the dealer recc.)
-Enjoy the car.

Ive seen some really nice low mileage 8s on Craiglist lately. Makes me really wish I didnt buy mine new, coulda save about $20k. Like jsjjr said, stay in the 06-08 range. They seem to have less problems than the pilot cars. This just me, but I wouldnt buy a used car from a dealer. Id rather meet the owner and have them explain to me how they took care of the car, especially with a rotary engine. Im getting sick of putting this turbo on so there might be another one for sale with 7000 miles!! Lol!!
