Anyone know of a good stretch of highway somewhere that we could take a ride on ? I know Louisiana roads and interstates are so bad that it takes the fun out of a long pleasure ride. For example.... I just recently returned to Baton Rouge after living in Katy, Texas for 3 years so I made the trip back and forth often for holidays to see family and what not. I could be sound asleep in the passenger seat of our SUV and i could tell the second we croseed over into Louisiana from Texas. The roads went from nice and smooth to instantly rough and bumpy.. like the roads had been shelled with artillery lol. I'd love to take the "8" on a 2 or 3 hour cruise, but there's just nothing fun about driving 2 or 3 hours on Louisiana roads, or is there ???? Anyone know where that road or roads is/are in this great state of Louisiana?

I'm more familiar with southern La.
Lots of 2 lane roads with heavy truck traffic.
Not exactly touring roads.
For scenery the drive down Bayou Lafourche is nice, but slow, lots of congestion.

The New Roads/ False River area is nice.

At least it was 40 years ago.

Interesting point, there were many poor people and farmers there who became rich practically overnight when the oil companies discovered the Tuscaloosa Trend oil and gas deposits.

hey guys i'm in nola, have black 04, it runs great but paint looks like crap on driver side (looks like faded cheap respray on that side) and bumper paint is all cracked and i have a big dent in rear quarter. if anyone has or sees a black rx-8 being parted out with good left side front fender, door or bumper i may be interested in the parts...or a cheap backyard respray lol.

also last time i was at the amc theater in harahan (before the pandemic) i noticed the shop near the parking lot had 3-4 rx-8s.

Anyone know a Rotary Mechanic????

I'm in Baton Rouge, but willing to drive wherever....just looking for someone who knows what they're doing. I've spent over $2,000 so far chasing down my loss of power problem and I'm just heartbroken. My car was so fast 6 months ago and now I can't pass a Nissan Altima...its embarassing. I'm either going to sell it or let someone else have a go at it, but they need to be worth their salt as I've literally covered just about all

the bases. I hate to sell it... I LOVE this car. Plus, with all the new parts and upgrades I've done trying to fix the problem, this will be one solid, bad *** RX8 if I can just find the problem and fix it. I know Houston has some shops , and I'm willing to make that ride, but I'm hoping maybe someone here knows someone closer. Thanks !

Have you done a compression test yet? That's the usual culprit for loss of power

It also may be the secondary shutter valve
