Thanks Vicegrip, I received it today. Looks good other than the standard machining marks that I will remove with fine grit sand paper. I looked into getting it annodized. I think I will take the primer and paint route since there is a minimum charge of $90.00 to get anything annodized in color. Now i can't wait to install it!!

how were these mailed - seems like I should have recieved mine already but it's not here.

 

i used Scotch Super 33+ electrical tape and wraped it then cut the back off at half the width of the flat sides. the tape is very flexable and sticks really well, time will tell how it holds up but if it fails then I can always re-apply or paint.

I also took a small piece of wax paper and mounted it inside to get rid of some of the bright reflections that were coming through.

the picture was at night i will take a better one tommorow, it really looks good and the shade is really close to the buttons.

 

I got mine today, but i tried and tried for hours and was unable to remove the stock ****. I just can't get it out. I tried every finger combination possible and the **** won't come out. I would never take a screw driver to any part of my 8, other than a screw, but would prying it out with a flathead work? I just can't get it out

Has anyone tried pulling the Pettit **** off once installed?

Next to impossible , if the clip is installed that came with it.

I first used a white sticker that i colored black with a BIG sharpie and it worked fine but the color was a little off. so I had to pull it but i did not have much of a problem pulling it.

For the stock **** I used a pair of pliers with a folded paper-towel, no damage to the **** and no problem coming off.

I had trouble at first pulling mine off. After about 15mins. of trying it came off all of a sudden. I had a few tooling marks so I sanded the top with a combination of sanding paper grits ranging from 320 to 2000. The top now has the same finish as the rest of the aluminum looking pieces in the car. I also primered and painted the outside edges with semi flat black paint. It matches somewhat. I may go back and apply a clear coat to see if it matches a little better. But for now I am very pleased with the results.

 

You guys are weak, I haven't received mines yet, but I took my ****, in just 123 very EZ.

I took a while with my stock **** too, yanking too hard was just too nerve racking as I thought I might bust something so I tried the mini-wiggling method then a firm jerk when I felt it give.

looks good out of the bag, but I see where people might like a black base.

just recieved the **** not long ago and going to paint and install it. ill post pictures probably tomorrow. thanks vice
