Sounds vaguely like Homer Simpson's "speed holes". I like it. Just make sure you've got several.

LMAO... this reminds me of when some kid tried telling me that to get better rear traction in his civic he was just going to attach the motor mounts to an I-beam which then connected to rear of the car.... I hope you all understand how that is funny on SEVERAL different levels.

Actually, the entire "vent" would be causing drag. Not just the front of it.

Here is the simple reason it will not work.

Conservation of Energy! The air velocity and pressure you are wishing to harness is generated by your forward motion. Let's say this air has an energy of X. Then you pass it through a tube that changes the velocity or pressure. Now what is the energy of the air coming out of the tube? Well it happens to be equal the amount put in so it would be X. Since this tube adds no energy you will receive no thrust from it.

Now if you put a turbine in the tube driven by fuel or electricity then you could get some thrust since you are adding energy to the system but then you would just have a jet engine.

NOTE: The case above is the ideal case i.e. no friction etc.

If you reversed your idea, and put a hurricane behind you blowing the direction you are driving...it just might work.

Or you could just be retarded

While you're at it, might as well replace the renesis with one of those new fangled perpetual motion engines. I hear they run forever without requiring any fuel!

If I ever met you in person, this might happen:

Yeah, you're retarded.
Wow, that was hilarious. When I got the image of someone actually doing that I bursted out laughing.

As for the idea, I think he was just suggesting a way to improve the aero dynamics. Except his solution for it was poorly put... :-P
