1987 Mazda 626 there was a button in between main vents on dash that made the vents oscilate
1986 mazda rx7 my favorite car of all time. i bought it for 1200 bucks and drove the wheels off it. i like my eight but i think my old rx7 handled better
1999 ford contour, snowbeast on bad days in indiana here
1999 honda prelude, manumatic what a mistake
2004 wrx, neat car but still an econobox with a race car drive train
2004 rx8 not as fast as wrx, but handles way better, fits me better, sounds better, looks better, basically about everything is better.

Dude you're hott. That Eclipse was awesome, that's why you won hottest wheels in '03. Pics do you no justice.

Smooth Criminal
First Car: 1981 Honda Accord Special Edition
Second: 1995 Ford Ranger, hated it, then wrecked it.
Third: 1983 Honda Prelude, a real beater, but better than the Ford
Fourth: 1992 Honda Accord Coupe
Fifth: 1997 Honda Prelude SH, awesome car, should have never sold it.
Sixth: 2003 Honda Accord Coupe, worst buy ever.
Seventh: 2004 Mazda RX-8, Made the jump, and I will never go back. :D
The '83 Prelude had no air, no heat, no stereo, crank windows that only worked sometimes, one headlight in the permanent up position, no trim panels on the body, rust, 3 wheel covers, but it was a lot of fun.

1) 1989 Ford tempo given to me for my last year of uni in 2003-2004. 300,000KM
2) RX-8
I had a nice jump in "classes" of cars. Tempo was leaking transmission fluid, oil, and steering fluid. We called it the "tempo of doom". But regardless I kinda liked the tempo! I could do whatever I wanted to it

Fiat Uno - great to see a lot of Fiats around here! Had a 5-spd gearbox that felt like one big rubber hole, and a "special long-throw" 2ft long shifter part of the fun was desperately trying to find the right gear. Plus, it was the only car I've driven that when you took a bend, the four wheels stayed planted firmly on the road, but the body was at 45 degrees!
Rover 220 Turbo Coupe - fast in its day 0-60 in 6.5secs, bigger, heavier and not as competent as todays' coupes. RX8 makes this look and feel like a battleship.
Fiat Turbo Coupe - Where did they pull this one from??? Looked like a mini Ferrari, drove like a mini Ferrari, found out it was designed by Ferrari. Loved this car - and was the most beautiful looking car ever, until the RX8.
Explorer XLS - Competent
Currently own: see sig.

i am a little suprised there are not more people that have converted from RX-7 to RX-8. i mean dont get me wrong, its seems like us that have had RX-7's in the past, have had a couple/few, but there are a lot of first time rotary owners here!
anyways, its pretty cool seing how many and what typs of cars other people have.

and of course some of us grow up and have families... or course that was the reason the RX-8 came with four doors isn't it? :D (Mazda knew the marketing angle of this car since day 1)

Wow lots of you go through cars like I go through mt dew! Here's my short list.
1. 1977 Ford County Squire station wagon 93-95 (huge ****, 460 big block) dad sold it to a demo derby, almost won but it went out of bounds! argh!
2. 1988 Chevy Celebrity 95-now (been a great car but aging, still strong but lots wrong with it which I'm not going to fix, will replace with a truck/SUV if the car ever will die!)
3. 2005 Mazda RX-8 now (very big upgrade from the two above!)

My 3
1979 Jeep Wagoner: I absolutely loved this car. Had a 360 v8, full time 4 wheel drive, and I could fit like 20 people in it. The truck had 300,000 miles on it before I had to lay it to rest, after the transmission went. Some day I will buy and restore one of these. No comparison to the 8 in onroad performance.
1989 Dodge Daytona: This car was a piece of crap. The engine blew a week after I got it. After I got a new engine installed the car ran well for about 3 years when it finally died again. If you ever doubt the power the 8 has just take one of these puppies for a spin.
1991 Oldsmobile Royal: The car was built for old people, but it could haul. Not my first choice in a auto but the acceleration would sink you into you seat. The only real issue I had was that the power windows kept breaking. I spent about 3 months driving with my Driver’s side window stuck down. This car would hang with the 8 off the line, but it was a boat.
THE 8: Best car yet!

Great read. Vote to merge the this thread with the "what was your previous car thread": https://www.rx8club.com/showthread.p...&page=11&pp=15
Started as only your previous car then turned into all cars. It just doesn't get as much attention in the automotive section.
There are a bunch on previous rotary owners on the other thread.

1984 Honda Accord - well over 400,000 miles on it (not sure because odometer eventually died). No AC, Would slow down...had to downshift...until it died for no apparent reason, ceiling foam flew in your eyes with windows down(had to wear sunglasses), heater threw a bunch of little foam ***** out at you every time it was turned on, cassette player quit working so I wore headphones instead, speedometer quit working, but sunroof and back windshieldwiper worked like a charm.
1991 Geo Storm - 145,000 miles (traded)
1998 Chevy S10 - 74,000 miles (traded for RX8)
