Yeah doesn't the 2JZ-GTE (w/o tranny) weigh like 600lbs dry? This is a good amount more than the Vette engines at the time. Lucky for Toyota it was good for crazy amounts of boost.

Not that big of a difference, the 350Z GT weighs in at a hefty 3,404lbs. Or if it's open-air motoring motoring excitement you seek, the Supra had a removable roof whereas the Z roadster bloats up to nearly 3,600lbs.

i use to hace a rx8 every na bolt on, but got tired of getting beat on the stright aways so bad at button willow. so i got a 07 z and i love it also. i feel it brakes as good as my rx8 did but i the long sweepers u can feel the 3300 pound z more. also it does that more ***** to drive a the z into the corner. unlike the rx8 which was so easy to drive. but i love the stright line power of the z. im not much of a 1/4 guy but i took it to the drags last month and ran a 13.3 at 106 which is not bad at all. the 07 is so much faster then the 03- 06 z its not funny. most 03 -06 z dyno around 240 whp. i took and had my 07 z dyno it was 273whp 258 wtq stock on a dyno jet. then i dyno it with my duel intakes from stiilen and my hks exhaust which are the only motor parts out for the 07 it dyno at 302whp 267wtq. all in all there stuff i like abou tthe rx8 more but ill take the z if i were to do it again.

Hahah that sounds very familiar to what I had said about the 350z.

I actually went to go test drive an RX8 just for fun since I loved how it looked and kept hearing good things about it, so I went over to the Mazda dealership which is about 2 blocks from my house, got in the TiGray Rx8 and probably 4 hours later I am trading in my 04 350z for the RX8.

The RX8 is just a funner ride imho and since I have owned both, I must say the Z does have more power, but I realized that I never actually need all that power since I am scared shitless of getting a ticket haha.

I'm driving one now "07 350Z. All it has going for it is some power. The seats are very uncomfortable and the interior is NOISY. It rides like my work truck with 70 psi in the tires. Why would someone pay so much for a car like this.
My wife was kinda thinking of one. As soon as I got this one she said "Hell No". The interior is just lacking compared to the RX-8. There is no glove box! No where to put anything. No center console to speak of. No glove box! Whatever you put in the back is tossed around like a shirt in the drier.
The Bose stereo is lacking any kind of mid range. It's so hard to hear anything over the road noise, A/C fan noise, stereo NOISE.
The interior pieces are squeaking ( BAD SQUEEK) on this one. It has 12,000 miles.
There is no way I would ever own one off these cars.

I LOVE MY RX-=8

Don't ya just love the color?

There is a compartment behind the passenger seat that acts as a glovebox. Also, there are two smaller compartments behind each seat along with another one above the radio. There is plenty of space actually, just not in the usual spots.

Small spaces, not glove box size spaces. All there is is a bunch of little cubby holes. And six cup holders?

the op wrote a very accurate writeup. when i got my z back in 05 i was looking at the rx8. honestly back then the only reason i got the z was because i got a killer deal on it. i was leaning towards the rx8 because 1. coming from an audi before i thought the 8's interior was far superior, 2 the car felt like it was on rails. the z handles very well but the 8 felt like a go cart. and 3 the high revving rotary was fun in the twisties.

That being said i dont regret getting the Z. i dont religiously track the car so the handling characteristics of the Z was plenty enough for me and my once a year trip up to willow springs. Also the power in the 8 was a bit disappointing. the Z is not a juggernaut, not by a long shot, when it comes to power but being used to the twin turbos' torque from my audi i felt the z's throttle was alot more responsive. also i was intrigued by the overabundance of aftermarket parts available for the Z.

Both are great cars IMO. the RX8 seemed a bit more refined and the Z a bit more Raw. anyways heres my Z. im sure some of you socal guys have seen me at the lax meet.

Nice looking Z, though I'm not a fan of the white wheels on the pearly white car.

OMG, gimpster, that's a sexy bitch.

Oh, and the glovebox in my Z is really big. It's the floorboard in front of the passenger seat.

Actually, the space behind the passenger seat is bigger than most gloveboxes. In mine I have: owners manual, 50 cd binder, and a towel (bath sized used to cover seats when needed) and there is still plenty of space. My 06 has 4 cup holders (1 on each door, and 2 in the center console). I never use the ones on the door though.

That's a pretty silly salesman. If a guy comes in driving a rusty Oldsmobile, you can tell him, "Now you're about to drive a man's car."

If he comes in driving a sporty car, even one you personally don't respect, saying "Now you're about to drive a man's car" means you are insulting him. You're basically telling him you think he was stupid to buy the car he has.

If you don't like American cars, that's fine. To each their own.

But you have to respect some of the newer pushrod engines. The 2008 Corvette has a 6.2 liter 436 horsepower V8. That's ridiculously big to make that kind of power (bad hp/liter), but the engine is surprisingly light. The whole car weighs less than the 350Z with its VQHR that's 2.7 liters smaller, and the Vette has 130 extra horsepower.

The Corvette Z06 is even better. A monster 427 cubic inch engine, which again isn't that impressive for power to weight ratio until you realize how light it is. 505 horsepower in a street legal factory car that weighs less than 3200 pounds.

the stock 2007z Track is supposed to put out 220kw (293hp) to the crank and do the 1/4 in 14.4s according to the Motor mag I have in front of me .
Your figures seem to be off ..... are you sure you didn't mean 14.3 ?

resisting the urge to bring out the BS meter here .....

If only the interior didn't remind me of my 89 Sunbird. I'd be a senior member at my350z.com by now!!! Ok OK.... not 89 Sunbird maybe latter year ones.

I test drove one. The power was nice but rear visibility was terribly poor. Comfort was ok nothing really stood out.
