Shouldn't matter, but it's really starting to bug me that the one word in the title of this thread - the only word in the title, just 5 little letters - is, amazingly, misspelled. How can someone misspell a 5-letter word!?! Of course, it can't be corrected. No, it's gonna sit up there, misspelled forever, greeting the world with a hearty "welcome to rx8club.com, home of the dumb forum!" (Sorry, make that dumb... fourm.)

Telsa?

One of my clients is doing the heat treatment on a lot of this car's parts. He said the owners are really cool...too cool to have the kind of money they do. He said one of them was wearing shorts and Birkenstocks when they 1st met. He also said this project is labor of love for much of the executive team at Tesla Motors.

It will probably, once the 2 speed trans is done, go 0-60 in under 4, while the Elise goes 0-60 in 4.9.

Though I'm sure the Elise is superior in the twisties.

The Tesla is the most exciting automotive happening in the last 50 years.
I can't wait for them to to work the bugs out on the transmission, get more mileage out of the batteries, and make a 4 door for me
I'm hoping that will be in less than 10 years.
I'd love to test drive one now to feel the "instant acceleration"

Go Tesla!

Are you being sarcastic? The company is named after the infamous Nikola Tesla, inventor of AC, among many other things.

Saw an Electric Blue one right beside me this evening in the San Jose area. At first I thought it was Lotus when I was a distance back and then saw the Tesla (Telsa) lettering on the back.

From an article on the Web, I guess that Electric Blue one was one of about five cars in existence. It had MFG plates.

Yeah, the sedan is codenamed "WhiteStar", with an anticipated price range of $50-60 k. Then the "BlueStar" is due out next, with an even lower price range. Now, of course this is if everything works PERFECTLY (which it won't). Whitestar due for production around 2009-2010, with the BlueStar following a couple years after. I'm getting all this from their newsletters.

My issues are with the transmission itself. Previous posters have discussed it, and the apparent fix is causing more strain on the batteries, as in they are already approaching peak output. Not an engineer so I'll wait and see.

My other issue is the viability and strength of the company itself. While the pockets seem deep (eBay dude), they are skimming down personnel and cutting some fat to try to become profitable in the near future. Now, I am by no means a "bidniss" man, so maybe this company will actually make it. But, since I'm a terrible pessimist, I expect this car to be seen in a Marty McFly remake with an all-electric, non-plutonium flux capacitor on it...
