swapping ECU ( trying to anyway )

I need HELP . I have a bad ECU unit in my 2004 RX8 . Bought a used one . Will not start . It shows it is immobilized when I loaded my COBB ( COBB will not reset it ) . Dealer says he can't reset it , I have to buy new one . Can I get the ECU reset or do I have to buy a new one ???

well they will want to charge you to get it "married" to your car. probably bill you a couple hours labor.

I am asking the place I got the ECU from for the ignition key ( going to cut the KEY off , make a blank key and see if I can trick it so I can get it to the to the dealer and program a new key )
If that doesn't work , I will put the old ECU back in and swap it when I get there .

You need to have the new ECU programmed to mate with the other modules...you will need your cars " as built" data that the dealer can get from the techline.

It takes about 1 hours labour to get it up and running if everything goes well and the tech knows what he is doing

You will need to bring your keys with you

Good luck

You can get the As built Data for like 30 bux. then you can give it to your dealership and it should work.
