I think he meant something along the lines of, The RX-8 is a "better looking sports car that should be as fast as a neon but simply isn't"

Is beer seriously good there? Milwaukee's best is actually the worst beverage I've ever had. I'm just kidding, well that beer is gross, but I'll take your word on the good beer in the area. Anyway, we enjoy your witty, edgy posts Ike. I don't think flame wars would be the same without you :p

I don't think Milwaukee's Best is even brewed in Milwaukee anymore, it's either that or Old Milwaukee I've never even seen either of them for sale where I normally shop and people in Milwaukee sure as hell don't drink much of either. :p We have some of the best micro brewerys in the country in Wi., New Glarus, Capital Brewery, Sprecher (sort of), and Lakefront Brewery to name a few. Plus we have fried cheese curds, that was the only thing that got me through my sadness of leaving Chicago.

...hijacking this post (sorry)

I used to have a customer in Wisc. I visitied for work a few times each year. When I went over there 3 times last year I saw customized Van Conversions w/ packers captains chairs in them. It obviously was cold so I get inside this company's office and they have a few places to hang your coat and all I see are green and yellow puffy jackets. Ike, don't tell me that this is you....and don't tell me that you own a cheesehead and keep it in the subie's trunk. lol

Hahaha, nope not in the last. I've been in Milwaukee for 5 years and I was and still am one of its biggest critics. It has gotten more metropolitan, but the Packers are still the biggest thing there is in this state. I swear if the Packers had played on 9/11 it still would have led the news. Once you've been here for a few years you kind of run out of things to do and settle into a rhythm and find the places you like where the guys in their packers jackets and mullets don't show usually :p

The best thing about Milwaukee is it's cheap to live here, beyond that not much keep me here besides the fact that I love my job and my best friend lives here. I don't hate it here, but I wouldn't hesitate to pick up and move if given the right opportunity. Oh and people complain about traffic, but traffic here is wonderful after living in and near chicago my whole life. I should be a spokeperson for Milwaukee, I make it sound so appealing

I agree. Seems like the SRT-4 gets an unusually high amount of interweb criticism and condascension. The stone throwers claim it's the SRT-4 owners that bring it upon themselves...but true or not, how the hec does that make it any less of a car?

I Like the SRT-4 but if I had to choose between it and a modded Mitata, there is no question, especially if it's a 2004-2005 miata.

Took a tour of Sprechler's brewery when I was in Milwaukee three years ago. Definitely liked the beer.

As for the SRT-4, I think it's a formidable car. If only looking for bang for the buck, I think anyone would have a hard time passing that up.

All I can say after skimming the SRT board is that there are clearly some children who were left behind.

I never said it was bad car. It seems quite capable from the numbers i've seen. I have never driven one. I would guess that if I couldn't of afforded the 8 I would of been looking at this car. I'm not going to go into all the reasons why I chose the 8 over the others but one reason is the fact that inothing else looks like it does (althought i'm starting to see it in other Mazda cars ). An SRT4 looks like a base Neon. An EVO looks like the last rental I had. So I think thats where some of the it's just a Neon comments come from. I've met exactly 3 SRT4 owners. They were dicks with legs. I would guess that those who bought an 8 could of afforded a much faster/torque car (EVO, STi, 2003 below vette? etc) but chose not to, so I'm not seeing the "***** speed envy" thing.

I own an STI, and I love that car, but from a rolling start I am very vulnerable against an srt04 stock for stock.
Is this before or after you have to make a sharp turn? opps more SRT4 bashing based on pure speculation lol.

(Last time) The SRT4 is a good performance car from the numbers I've seen but I would never drive it/consider it because of looks and it's made by Dodge. BTW I hate Mustangs too Sorry for the long post but I am/was/still bored

a car is more than the sum of its engine........

The RX8 is so much more a complete package over the Neon on steroids.

The RX-8 has a better balance of power and handling, but the word "complete" is being used wrong. Either something is complete or it's not. If the RX-8 was the "complete" package of power and handling Mazdaspeed wouldn't be improving upon the model. The RX-8 is underpowerred.

OK...that last one is a teaser, but if it's anywhere near 300hp and 3000lbs is will be a monster on the twisties and in the 1320.

You did well with the first 3... The RS6 is nice, but is a bit porky and not all that impressive on a track, same goes for the C32 considering it's an AT. Both more or less luxury cars with a slant for performance than purists cars IMO.

My friend drives an '03 SRT-4, and they are pretty quick, but I love to tease him about being a Neon owner.

The shifter in that thing is so tall, you feel like you're in a pickup truck.

Not a bad economy-car-turned-fast-economy-car, if that's what you're into.

Just junky to me though. My buddy has already had to bring it back to Dodge 7 or 8 times in the year he's owned his, becasue pieces are falling off and the FWD mechanicals have failed him twice.
