none, I dont think I am going to do anything major to it, I really want to save for a nicer car instead. like the 8 or something better ( you never know what will be availible in 2-3 years )

Well my 8 only has the sports package so I don't really have anything nice cosmetically, no wing either. So I think I'd rather have a Fully Loaded TC over a plain rx-8, just what I like though, I almost got arrested for speeding and it was a serious wake-up call, speed and power doesn't really interest me anymore.

the tC isn't much compared to the Celica. even w/ the 160HP it only revs out to 6k. the thing actually weighs a lot more than it looks. torque steer like crazy. and the vvt-i really doesn't do anything at all. the tC is a sportier version of the Corolla S. even the new Corolla XRS will kick its ***. it's a nice little car to cruise around in with your friends. you swap the motor out and stick in a 2ZZGE, then we have a serious little sport compact.

do you know what it takes to get 500 hp out of a camry motor?? or any 4 cylinder at that. you can get 500 hp out of a Ford Aspire if you put in enough money.

The Corolla XRS has the 2ZZ Celica motor and six speed transmission. Its actually detuned slightly (170 hp @7600) but has a bit more low and midrange torque. I think one of the differences is variable timing on the intake but not the exhaust cam. If I needed a regular sedan, this would probably be my choice.

The TC does seem to come with a lot of nice features for a good price. I think it would have also made a good home for the 2ZZ.

i'm not sayin' that a new tC owner should go out and swap out his/her motor for a 2ZZ. i think it would've been a smarter decision to offer the tC with the 2ZZ from the factory. now, "why would you bother doing a swap when the current engine has a lot of potential?", ask that to the notorious motor swapping Honda guys. why ditch your perfectly high potential B16A for a B18C? etc. etc.

My roommate got one a few months ago, his first new car. He had an old mid 90's 4 door Chevy Cavalier so this was awesome for him.

It was one of the cars that I suggested and he agreed it was the best deal for the money. He got an automatic so I can't say how it drives compared to other cars with manula trannys for but for the money you get a pretty damn good car with Toyota reliability, good looks, and features.

Kenny Tran has a boosted Tc pumping 600 hp at the crank, so that's not too shabby. (I think the article is in this month's Modified Mag).

And starting in April, Scion will have Tc's that you can buy with the TRD supercharger factory installed...rumors peg the sc'd version anywhere from 200-220hp.

Someone in a tc was itching to race me (in my automatic Rx8) last week and I gave in. Surprisingly we were actually neck to neck. Then again a lot of cars are neck to neck w/mine. Manual could definitely stomp it though.

Stock internals 2AZ-FE at 14psi put out around 353whp and 348wtq, how does the high-compression 2ZZGE compare to that? You would have to drop the compression ratio on those 2ZZ before you could match the power of a 14psi 2AZFE.

I have always thought that the 2AZ-FE had good potential yet nobody has ever poured money into it back when it was in the Camry/Solaras only. Good move for Toyota to put it in the TC, because now it is getting a lot of aftermarket attention.

I can understand the 2ZZGE fans out there because any Toyota engine with GE at the end is built for performance. FE's are for family cars and fuel efficiency. But face it, there's a reason why Toyota is heading for the 2AZFE formula. It's probably cheaper to produce and has loads of power for daily-driving while producing great gas mileage.

I love those tc's. I would want those as my daily driving car. And OMG what about those xA and xB those are hella ugly cars. Those boxes tried to race me. Sigh. But I would want a tc in a heart beat if I have money to buy another new car.

Can you show us where there's a 2AZ-FE at 14 psi on stock internals, putting out those numbers? I'm a tad skeptical, but sounds great if it's true.

That brings me to my next questions. Anyone know how much the TRD supercharger costs, and how much boost it makes?

i worked at Toyota about 3 yrs. ago. the TRD supercharger for the V8 Tundra was around 7 grand. i believe it was anywhere from 4-6 psi

The only kind of car that should wear at "TC" in the nameplate should be turbo charged. I fell for it the first time I saw one last summer though. Saw one in traffic one day and was revving at the guy. He looks at me like WTF you psycho and then starts revving his engine too. It was a pretty damn close race until the light turned green. :D

It also has a TRD exhaust & AEM air intake available for it. Kind've cool in that they are already thinking about the aftermarket for this car, and it is pretty much supported by Scion/Toyota. Nifty car. If I was looking for a $20K car defiitely something I would consider.

from all the posts on www.scionlife.com every there thinks that the TRD supercharger will cost around 4k installed. The specs on it havent been released yet, but people are guessing it will be around 200-220hp, it should be a nice little bump. but if you do ever get a TC you will notice that the tires dont grip too well, and in MY TC I spin the tires quite easily and I dont even try too. so new tires are must if you are going to do any performance mods to it.
