I'm sure he would not bash it the way he did. It was just an unfair video to the people who designed this car up from scratch.
ABOUT THE RX 8 BASH - IT'S UNFAIR TOO
I've read people bashing the RX8. Well, it's kind of like that video -- VERY unfair.
What I've read so far
RX8 is
- the ugliest car in the world
- japanese crap
- slowest crap out there
So, what's the difference between this guy bashing the Crossfire and those people hatin and bashing the RX8 ??? They're both stupid.

Get the 8
Don't know nothing about the Crossfire, except it has been slammed in most reviews and it seems pricey.
I have an auto 8 with the sport package -- it's been fantastic. In day to day driving, it is very smooth and easy to drive, and it has plenty of torque for getting off the line. (I think the horsepower complaints you see all over this site are way overdone.) Zero to whatever times are not going to be as fast as the MT, but I think that's mainly because there's no clutch to drop. You can still shift manually if you feel like winding it up. The AC and everything else work just fine.

And Japanese crap? Not only is that unfair (you'd be criticizing a number of other Japanese automakers), but I've heard that in reliability tests they actually beat out some German makes and severely outlap American automakers.

I have to admit that when Sam Mitani said that the RX-8 was the best design to come out of Japan, I was wondering what he was smoking at that time. The design just didn't look right. Too long with the extra side doors, too narrow, with a front license plate, it looks like bugs bunny. After looking at the darker colors of the RX-8, it doesn't look to bad. In fact, it looks pretty menacing.
To say that the Crossfire styling looks like a "dog taking a dump" is just silly. He was obviously being paid to say this, extremely jealous of the car, or just a hic. This isn't the first time a car follows this design. The Crossfire looks like it took styling cues from a French auto maker Talbot Lago. The Crossfire even comes with fitted custom leather luggage for free. How many cars do we know offers this. Plus, I've heard you can get some for $8000 below sticker.
I could never pinpoint what styling cues the RX-8 used. It then came to me. The RX-8 is designed by Pokemon. Kind of cartoony (is that a word?) like up front.

If Jeremy Clarkson hates something, then he doesn't pull punches. He is about as straight-talking a "journalist" (I use the term loosely, as the show is more on the entertainment side) you can get. You cannot judge the man on one interview, you have to take it in context.
He works for the Public Broadcaster, the BBC, over here, so therefore the show is not sponsored, there are no ads (an hour show is an hour and a hour of 24 is only 43 minutes) and he praises most things german (except porsches). But he just didn't like the Crossfire.
There is also a reason why you can't get a discount on a RX-8 and there is a waiting list for it, in the UK. Whereas, the crossfire is sitting on dealer's forecourt and even ending up £5000 in car supermarkets (where dealers sell on their old "new" stock, that they cannot get rid of). Most british drivers (BTW, I am not a native brit) just do not like American cars.
But in the end it is each to their own. Having not driven the Crossfire, I would not know. But I doubt if it would appear on my shopping list for a 2-seater.

Everyone here is so sensitive..., please keep personal insults to yourself. I never called anyone here dumb or an idiot. If you want to make personal attacks, I'd be happy to that too.
I'm mistaken, it doesn't look like Pokemon; more like that pink fellow; Kirby with the big cheeks. By the way, I don't own a Crossfire. I just appreciate what the stylist was trying to do. Whats wrong with saying that the RX-8 looks cartoony? It does to me.
