For those interested to know what happened to the 25 all new Mazda 6's @ Australian F1 "Celebrity Race", ALL apart from 3 were sent to the wreckers.
Yes, MA had them insured.
IF there is ever a next time perhaps MA will remove the DSC button so that the "Drivers" could not turn off DSC, which they secretly found out from someone a day before the race.
I thought in Australia from 2012 it was illegal to be-able to turn off DSC (ADR, Australian Design Rules).
You could easily see those who had turned off their DSC during the race, or should I say the very few who had it ON, like Europe has had for a few years, the Aussie Spec Mazda 6 now incorporates auto Hazard Flashers (all) on while ABS kicks in.
The TV commentator at the time (a past female Olympic swimmer!!) said OH!! look they are turning on their Hazard Warning Lights (when braking for corners), how funny..Ha.Ha!!!..

AFAIK, you can have different DSC settings like some makers do, but were not allowed to sell a new car (here) where you can turn off/disable DSC.
All new cars now sold in Australia from 2013 must have DSC as standard, including our lovely Chinese brands like Chery, Great Wall, and a few others.
What one does to your own car 'after' is your business as it is not regulated or checked in some states...have an accident and if found out by assessor/police, no insurance cover.

I believe DSC is required in the US too and has been for a few years. I don't think that there is a requirement that it can't be disabled temporarily.

BBC Sport - Red Bull boss on Pirelli tyres: 'F1 nothing to do with racing any more'
Bernie Ecclestone is not amused with the quality of Pirelli tyres currently being offered to the Formula One teams. Ecclestone does admit though Pirelli is working hard on it and he is expects to see less pit-stops in the near future.
Speaking about the current Pirelli tyres Ecclestone told Sky Sports: “The tyres are wrong, not what we intended when we asked Pirelli to produce something which did a half race. Pirelli know it and they’re doing something about it. We’ll go back to last season’s type of tyres, which gave us some close racing.”

The team have been vociferous opponents of the fast-degrading Pirelli tyres and have been pressuring the Italian company to produce more durable rubber.
"Everyone knows what happens here," Mateschitz told Austrian journalists.
"Under the circumstances, we can neither get the best out of our car nor our drivers."
Mateschitz, a man of great influence in F1 who runs two teams in Red Bull and Toro Rosso, said: "This is a competition in tyre management. Real racing looks different."

Is anyone else, besides Redbull, really pushing for a tire change? Even though Mercedes seems to have the biggest problems, red bull seems to be the loudest voice pushing for change. I'd hate to see F1 being dominated by one team again.

I don't see any domination by a team in the near future. Here is an article on the challenges that are involved when they make changes to a spec tire.

I missed it and will have to watch the replay. NBC Sports had the schedule wrong. So I missed the live telecast and my DVR only picked up the last 3 laps. I only saw about 15 sec of those so I haven't seen the finish, all though I do know who won.

That was so stupid. Perez was braking so late, he wasn't even able to go through that chicane a few times. I don't understand how he was expecting to pass and not cause an accident like that. Kimi lost quite a few points to Vettel but he put in some great moves to go from P13 to P10 with two laps to go. 23 consecutive points finishes.

“Because of one stupid move from Sergio we’ve lost a lot of points to Sebastian [Vettel] in the championship and you can’t afford to lose ground like that.”
