LOL!! I know, but what I'm trying to say is, all things being equal and placing each driver in an unfamiliar car, but similar to F1 (which is why I said the GP2 car..which is only a few ticks down from a full blown F1 car) I think Webber would beat Seb....and shove that crooked finger up his butt!! HAHAHAHAHAHAH

Still dunno...
Vettel won in the rain in a Toro Rosso... Webber only did something useful during one season in is whole career! Just like Massa, lol.

Seb got lucky...and the Torro Rosso wasn't that shabby of a car back then. Webber put a POS Minardi in the points on MULTIPLE occassions in his rookie year!! Smoked just about every team mate he ever had. Hell they guy finished a race in the points while puking his brains out driving...Vettle has still got some dues to pay...he ain't quite "THE ****" yet...getting there, but not yet...sorry...hahahahahahahah

Why nobody wanted him in a major team when he was in his prime then?
Team Managers aren't stupid. They know talent... Reason why Kovalainen was quickly discharged by mclaren!

They just don't know real talent, HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.....but you're right, Ferrari and McLaren wern't banging on his door. But I think Mark messed up when he went to Jaguar...they had huge potential, but just never did live up to it. He did ok at Williams though, and that's one of the big teams, unfortunatelly they were heading in the wrong directions and lost a bit of the glory they once had.

If they competed against me on the slot car track, I would kick all their *****. This is F1. We can't compare their abilities in some other arena that we have absolutely no idea on how it will turn out. We might as well make them jockeys in a horse race.

People are truly underestimating Vettel's gifting. He is incredible at focusing and has skill comparable to Hamilton, Raikkonen and Alonso. Schumacher can pull it out on occasion but the years have dulled the ability to be on top. This is no different that Michael Jordan coming back; he'll kick the *** of 99% of people not in the NBA still today but when he came back he could not dominate as he had previously.

Alonso is truly the all rounder with enough experience skill and youth to play with.

Paul.

I WAS THERE!! Valencia!! :)

So I was there for the GP of Valencia right on G2 "GRAO" tribune where Alonso stopped at the end of the race to greet his fans!.

It was ONE OF THE BEST RACES I have seen!! Well worth the time and money to see this race...The whole atmosphere was awesome and the paella was even better!

To be there and see my favorite team and my favorite driver (The BEST one there - ALONSO) was an awesome experience.

Now need to wait to see them here in Austin. I know I know I get to see 2 F1 races this year...

Go Alonso!!
Pololo
ps. BTW, where is Alfy?

He got rid of the RX8. He shows up on the site periodically.

I haven't had my RX8 for 5 years but I still own a Mazda (MS3) and I "love" this site.

^^Good question, because right out of the box this year, I though it would be a re-run of last year. But now, not so much. I don't know if its the tires or just that the car doesn't agree with him. I read somewhere that he's been looking at Lewis' set up lately and working with that. I do think he will eventually get on top of it, but I fear it may be too late in the year to do anything about it...but then again, with everyone taking points off each other, he may still have a shot

Teams frustrated by Hamilton / Maldonado shunt
That was the over-riding feeling among the managements of McLaren and Williams after Lewis Hamilton and Pastor Maldonado lost strong points for both teams on the penultimate lap of the European Grand Prix.

Hamilton, who went into the race as the championship leader, was battling to hold onto third place ahead of a closing Maldonado in Spain on the penultimate lap, on tyres that had significantly less grip.

Vettel names Alonso and Hamilton as stand-out drivers
Sebastian Vettel believes Fernando Alonso and Lewis Hamilton stand out as two of the best drivers on the current Formula One grid.

When asked which of the current crop of drivers would go down in history as all-time greats, Vettel said: "It's very competitive, obviously, and there is a long list at the moment. If you look at this season we've had a lot of different winners and those drivers are very competitive and very fast, but the ones that stand out are Fernando - he's one of the most complete drivers - and Lewis is very quick. Then there are plenty of others. Michael is still in the game, I don't think he has lost it. It's always depending on how well you do in combination with the package and the car and the team etcetera."

Tyre warmers to go amid F1 cost-cutting?
The abolition of F1 tyre blankets could save F1 teams half a million dollars but is not feasible with Pirelli's current control rubber. There are mixed views on whether or not a ban would be a good thing.

The blankets ensure that tyres are at operating temperature both at the start of a race and when drivers rejoin on fresh rubber after a pit stop. Many, however, believe that with everyone using them and carting generators around the world to use while the cars are on the grid, the blankets are an expensive irrelevance and that 'the show' would benefit from drivers having to cope with cold tyres, as in most other formulae.

Watch 63 Years Of F1 Evolution In 60 Seconds

It's hard to keep track of all the changes in grand prix car design since Formula One began in 1950. This minute-long video tracing the lines of each year's cars makes the whole history seem so simple, and so very beautiful.
Put together by Ruf Blacklock, the video is actually quite multi-dimensional, even though it just consists of animated line drawings. You see the quick-acting revolutions (rear-engined layout, wings, ground effects, high noses), and you see the longer spells where the cars slowly refine over a stretch of years.

What surprised you most about the changes that happen in the video

You have to have more than 10 cars on the grid somehow.

Ferrari, RedBull, McLaren, Mercedes, Lotus-renault, Toro Rosso, Williams, Sauber, Force India...
18 cars grid...

This would basically mean to remove from the lineup F1 teams with cars that run only a tad faster than top GP2 cars...

Or enforce the 107% rule more rigorously

Sucks for her but still... Had testing not been banned all of this wouldn't have happened.
A real track with a real straight and proper safety...

Oh, and possibly a more experienced driver. Not a 32yo tester with no f1 experience that's there only as a marketing gimmick. Ridiculous.
