The RX-8 is like the sexy sophisticated woman who is good at everything she does, and does it in a classy way. However, it takes more of a man to know how to handle this kind of woman and get good results...
Sorry if I offended any women here, but I look at cars alot like personalities of women...

I started here with legitimate thread topics for which I was attacked relentlessly on a personal level. If anybody in this forum understands what it means to be attacked unprovoked, it is me. That's why Zoom44 assured me crackdowns from now on would be more equitable.
Anyone can say anything about any car and should not get attacked personally.

I'm not inciting anything, If anybody's doing it, it's you. I mean why did you find the need to needle him with the comment "....I hope for your sake that you don't have a marketing or sales background"? That was a totally unnecessary and caustic comment (that may deserve a warning from a mod). That's why I advised him to take your comments with a grain of salt and not fall into your trap. Nothing more, nothing less.
Similarly, just a little above, I back up Shaolin when Shiri gets personal on him. If you're anything other than a Women's Studies major, you understand Shaolin's metaphor is exactly right on. I simply call it as I see it. I reward good clear unbiased thinking and avoid taking comments personally when there is no reason to. Are you going to say I'm tryng to incite something with Shiri? Give it a break. You're the one inciting. Period.

I don't take comments about Ford or any of the Big 3 personally. It only seems that way to you because some forum members come off as being extremely biased towards Japanese cars, and assume that anyone with a dissenting opinion is totally out of line.

In the Honda Ridgeline thread, I gave my opinion on the Ridgeline and F-150. You didn't like my comment and went after me. Fact. I tried to chill things down, sometimes with humor. You still didn't like it. You felt I stabbed you in the back later on in the thread. However, earlier, I just wanted to avoid anymore personal problems. I should have lashed back at you earlier in the thread and you know it. This is not the Ford Frat Boys Forum. Anyone can say anything about any car and should not get attacked personally.

My roommate has the '05 Mustang while I have the '04 RX-8. He lets me drive it every so often, and let me tell you, that thing is pure muscle. It is a completely different driving experience. I love driving it, there's nothing better than feeling pure speed in a large, solid body. Like a friend of mine said: the Mustang is a muscle car, the RX-8 is a crotch rocket. I love both cars and I don't think the Mustang is nearly as crappy as people claim it is. There are certain things they had to do to keep the costs down, it's just part of the game. But compared to previous years, this is the most upscale Mustang you can get, and it takes a lot to redesign a car from the past, make it look good, and follow all government regulations.
That being said, I prefer my RX-8. It's not as fast, by any means. But it's more fun to drive, I feel like I have more control. And I could drive mine in the winter. Plus, the RX-8 is sold in a lot fewer numbers, so seeing another one on the road is a special event. However, when my lease on my RX-8 is up, I'm going to seriously look into the SVT Mustang or the Shelby GT-500...depending on my finances of course ;-)

This'll help explain.
05 mustang GT peak HP @ 5750 RPMs
05 mustang GT torque peak @ ~4500 RPM's
Redline at 6000 RPMs
The power doesn't hit until VERY late in the RPM range of the engine, and the gearing drops you below that powerband when shifting. Most other big V8s give you power the moment you hit the gas, but the GT makes you wait until just before redline. You can't bury the pedal at 4000 RPM's and expect power in the GT. You have to actually wait for it to come. It felt like driving a vtec honda to me.
I floored the pedal at 3500 RPMs in second gear and my girlfriend had enough time to say "Where's the power? Isn't this a v ei.." before finally feeling anything.
You're right about the numbers. They don't lie. I can't say anything bad about a 13.5 second 1/4 mile, but I didn't FEEL like I was driving a muscle car. And that was what killed it for me.

You say Mustangs are similar to SRT-4's aka skittles? Bah! You must not know that a Mustang will RAPE an SRT-4 * unless heavily modded*. Yes RX-8's do look good but I would go with an RX-7. Stock for stock a Mustang will RAPE an SRT-4. For you to say that Mustangs are similar to SRT-4's you must not know what Mustangs are capable of doing.

I think the Mustang has the advantage in the straight, but the RX 8 would diffenitly make up some group in the turn and baking. The RX8 is clearly the better sport car, plus it has for door and has more room in the back than the ford. What do you guys think?

From all your posts, it sounds like you either 1) are confused about the performance, 2) got a Mustang that definitely had some problems, or 3) just plain out of your mind. Whatever it is, your analysis of the '05 Mustang is completely wrong.
I'm positive. I test drove 2. Both the manual and the automatic. I was impressed by neither. Take two B18's, stick them together to make a V8, and you'll get something pretty damn close to the mustang GT power-wise. I actually thought something was wrong at first, but both cars did the same thing. Like I said in my earlier post, the numbers don't lie. The new GT is a pretty fast car in a straight line, but it doesn't FEEL like a muscle car to me. Now my dad's 66 mustang with a 302....THAT feels like a muscle car.
