dont get me wrong hyundai has came a long way and yes they do look alot better but they still have the same ole cheap quality courtesy of hyundai mobis , now if u really in need of a hyundai the one i would recommend is a 4 dr genesis they seem to have the less problems.

there are lot a lot of miss informed idiots on this forum - dont talk down a car that you have not owned. And dont judge a car company because of what it was 15 years ago.

Initial quality means nothing .... look up dependability hyundai had been above average for many years mow, it is more reliable then Mazda for over 5 years now.

they improved alot, and you get alot for your money, much better bang for the buck then overpriced and overhyped Honda or Toyota.

Both rx8 and Gen. have something to like and something to dislike. 09-12 Gen has cheep materials on interior (my tiburon is better) but 2013 interior is better, even better then 370z. Old Gen. 2.0 has as much power as rx8 - but has much grater power gain potential.
Best handling is not most important for dd

I know exactly what you mean in your post about car product/brand.
10 years in one job, you see a lot.

Unfortunately many have never worked in a new car franchise (retail), one gets to really know the product, not from just a reliability point of view, but how the brand reacts to issues.
Cheap brands are cheap..there is no getting away from it, you can have a 10 year warranty, but if it ain't honoured it is not much good.

Recently I was at my old Mazda Dealership talking to my PM M8, (he has 35 years in one Mazda Dealer as a Parts Manager) there were 50 boxes of neatly packed parts, I asked what they were for.(unusual Part Number).

A certain VIN range of Mazda 6 has suspect piston gudgeon pins (apparently the assembler had personal issues in Japan), Mazda were not certain that these cars would go the distance, they obviously had a few fail...so instead of waiting for something that might happen, they (in Australia) sent out a personal owner letter and bring in the customer and car for a few hours, give them a loaner, and then the mechanic, drops the oil pan and removes pistons/rods and replaces...no fuss, no public announcement...they just do it.

What I like is it was the same back or me in 1975-1982, 1992-99, 2002-4, and still is today...for Mazda in Australia.
BTW: There were no engine failures here for the 2.5 Mazda 6.

there is a load of threads under "trouble shooting" on this forum. especially with engine blowing & clutch pedal snapping etc. come on. rx-8 owners shouldn't blast at hyundai for reliability.

..clearly the number of threads posted on a forum is a measure of the brand's reliability.

It clearly is not impacted or shifted based on:
- the number of people that buy a brand's cars
- the number of those owners that are inclined to even be on a forum
- the number of owners that never report problems to forums because they just blindly take their cars to dealerships
- the number of people that have problems because of their stupidity/negligence vs the number of people that have legitimate failures
- the number of people that have someone tell them that they have a failure when they actually don't
etc...

Clearly the Troubleshooting section can't possibly be influenced by any of this, and must be taken for internet facts.
