Mazda confirms rotary range extender?

New report:

Mazda Boss Reveals More About Rotary Range Extender | The Truth About Cars

“The rotary has very good dynamic performance, but if you accelerate and brake a lot there are efficiency disadvantages. The range extender overcomes that. We can keep it spinning at it’s most efficient 2000rpm while also taking advantage of it’s size.”

So it will be quite some time before we actually see another rotary sports car then, that is a shame. This is working off of what is said in there about the next generation rotary being a plug in car, so I doubt they will release 2 generations at once.
