I'd have to give Mazda 3-4 years to iron out the bugs in a 16X. Just not taking a chance on a new engine design.

Its good to see we will have a large volume of choices in 2-4 years for a performance enthusiast.

I can assure you that there is no bs here my friend. Soon, very soon, the engines of every 350z owner will be lubricated not with oil, but with bitter tears. Aside from the stunning engine, and a curb weight that will make shopping carts jealous, there are many other standard features which will cause much wailing and gnashing of teeth amongst the competition. For example, an MP3 player will come standard (pre-loaded with a copy of Chinese Democracy by Guns N Roses), along with a nav screen/Playstation combo (which will come with a copy of Duke Nukem Forever).

can someone shoot the bastards that decided on giving us a fatter version of the current 6 instead of the brand new, slightly larger, slightly lighter, and definitely awesome new 6?

*Puts on flame suit* Noob question Inc!

I don't know much about the rotary engine as far as specs go, yadda yadda, would like to know more though, so uh...

First rotary to be direct fuel injected vs. what?

I thought most cars/engines were direct fuel injection?

So what type does the 13B use then? I'm interested in knowing and very curious. Very noob as well, feel free to remind me about that

NOOOB!!!

Direct injection is different than how fuel and air are delivered now.

Currently the fuel injector sprays the fuel to mix with the air PRIOR to the combustion chamber.

Direct injection is different in that you are spraying the fuel DIRECTLY into the chamber.

It's more efficient to use DI for lots of reasons....

The new 16x has direct injection, but technically it isn't in the combustion chamber.

Ahhhh. Interesting. Is that just called "fuel injection" or does it have a more technical term?

Direct fuel injection was pioneered by Audi I believe?(feel free to correct if wrong) As has already been said it has many advantages.

As the great chris farley put it. You are Correct!

Though the comment of the 16b being a new design kinda through me off. And you call yourself a rotorhead??? The 16b is not a new design by any means. They've been trying to make a Hi-cc 2rotor engine since everyone spewed there ignorance in the 90's about how the rotory engine is so ill-reliable. I think you can just google 16b and read some of the old articles. I can't wait for mazda to grow a pair and give us a damn tri-rotor in production!!!
