Mazda RX-8 vs 2004 Hyundai Tiburon V6 (...Which one should I get?)
#26
Dood, go with what your friends say. If they're split evenly, get more friends until the scale is tipped. Tiburon or RX8, it's just a car man. Most important thing is what your friends think you should drive. After all, you're spending all your hard earned money to impress them.

VW coulda had it...
Jeeezus. You guys are mean.
Test drive both. Are you willing to put up with the RX8's idiosyncracies? (I mean endearing qualities)
I think we know which one you'll want.

2010 Prius - Miss the 8
It's not mean, we're being totally honest.. Get the Tiburon, I mean he has to believe us right? Afterall, he did ask the question in an RX-8club website, so he has to believe that we will all support the Tiburon.
Regardless of how much money it is, if he asked whether he should get the RX-8 or a Ferrari Modena, then we would still tell him to get the other car. See, we're not mean, we're just merely suggesting the other alternative.

Okay, okay, enough.
Obviously, the 8 is superior in practically every way. I am not an owner, but the 8 keeps me up at night . . . I have made it my life's mission to own one, no matter what my credit report (or wife) might tell me. The 8 is my dream car, and I think it is close to the perfect realization of an automobile.
However, go look up "underrated" in a dictionary, and the '04 Tibby V6 will be looking back at you. A good friend of mine has one in red, with factory-tuned CAI, exhaust, and ECU, along with EDM "Tuscani" badging and "Tuscani" 17" alloys. The "Tuscani Tiburon GT-S" with all the toys is a very, very, very good car, especially for the money. I'm going over there this afternoon, I'll be back with pics.
Peace

Dear Anyone,
§up, My name is Raijin, and I am so confussed on which car I want to purchase. Which would be the 2004 Hyundai Tiburon V6 or the Mazda RX-8. I'm looking for Performance, and Apperance. I asked soo many people, and its like 50 people says get the Tiburon because the American RX-8 sux, and the other 50 says Mazda RX-8....... Heck, I even went to the HIN (Hot Import Nights) and asked people there, and boy, what a argument with soo many people against the two great machines, and I started it!. So I would like to ask you guys which I should get, that will be worth buying, including with Body Kits, Speed, Tuning, ....etc. That will be a big thanx.

Are you under 24?
Is insurance cost an issue?
Will you finance more than 75% of car purchase cost?
If you answered yes to 3 out of 4 of these, go for the Tibby. Its cheaper to buy, run and maintain. I don't think its a bad car, despite 'perceived' Hyundai quality -whatever that may be.
On the performance arena, I can't talk about the Tiburon. Appearance..is very subjective, but I could say both look good..the 8 has the edge -of course I am going to say that.

These cars are not really comparable, they are in different catagories. One is a RWD sports cars while the other is a stylish economic minded car. I can say that I really enjoy my RX-8 and it makes me happy every time I see one. But it really depends what you are looking for. If its a car that is good on gas and stylish and cheaper then the Tibby is your best bet. Your best bet is to figure out what you want/can afford/"really need" and go test drive several cars. You're bound to find something you like and fits your needs. You will also be happier because you got what you wanted.

Seriously, though. If you can't pop for an 8 (and it would be understandable if you couldn't; they're not cheap) there are lots of nice FWD cars in the $20,000ish price range. The Tiburon is the best Hyundai ever (is that like being the smartest person in the Bush administration?), but there are lots of other nice cars out there. Personally, for the price of a Tiburon, I would take a Scion tC with a supercharger instead. Or a Corolla XRS with 170hp. Or an SE-R with all the NISMO goodies. Or an SRT-4 with the Stage 2 pack. Or a MAZDASPEED Miata (this one would stretch the price range). Or a used Prelude SH. Or a used ITR. The possibilities are endless.
