Mazda is setting a bad example...
I took delivery of my RX-8 yesterday....I had ordered and waited for this car for 3 months..the car came with none of the port installed options....(no 6disc changer, no spare tire kit, no apperance package)...i checked the dealer's paperwork and the dealer did order the car correctly....now when i call mazda, they refuse to believe me...i even have the email from mazda's website (where i put the car together...)...which shows all the options clearly.... i sincerely hope that mazda does take this seriously....

Why did you take delivery when it wasn't what you ordered? If you had refused delivery the dealer would have been motivated to correct the situation with Mazda.
My perception when I was dealing with my delivery issues was that the dealer has little sway to get anything done -- but the regional Mazda rep has a little more juice. I demanded to talk with the regional rep and he was able to get my car moving at the port and delivered. I was a first allocation order and my car just kept sitting and sitting at the port -- presumably because I had ordered port installed options and was put to the back of the line so they could get cars out as quickly as possible.
I would suggest you demand a meeting with the regional Mazda rep to discuss the situation. Mazda won't care what your online build shows (anybody can build a car online) but they should care what your dealer order shows -- and so should your dealer -- they should not have accepted the car from Mazda if the order wasn't correct.

the dealer took delivery of the wrong car, and the port shipped the wrong car to the dealer? this kind of thing happens once in awhile in the shipping industry but this sounds bogus. remember the dealer pays for the cars shipped to him,why would he pay for a car that wasn't correct?i think what might be happening is that the dealer has a car that is not sold to anyone and your car has not arrived yet- so they are trying to sell you this car instead. check the date the dealer actually ordered your car. or maybe your car went to a different dealer. definetly get the regional person on board

the Vin # is correct. The dealer has given in writing that he will install those things at the same price when they were ordered...so, essentially the dealer is not really selling another car, if he has to give me all the options anyways, as ordered...but what annoys me is that this car was pre-ordered and this is a mazda srew-up and what is even more ridiculous is that they don't want to accept it....

also, i ordered an RX-8 way back in February and didn't get it because that dealer marked the price up...then went to another dealer, pre-ordered, waited again and finally got this one...looks like the parts which are installed at port are on back-order, so those who ordered port options, please check and make sure that all options are there before you buy it or get an agreement to have those options installed at no extra cost to you...

What happened was most likely nothing to do with Mazda..... if you ordered the car directly from the dealer, there is absolutely no reason why Mazda would produce the car wrong! The dealer should have known from ordering the car if the options and port installed accesories were not correct weeks before it even hit production...... check the window sticker and see if possibly this unit was shipped to another dealer and then that dealer traded to your dealer to get your "order filled" more quickly. I bet this was the case or they gave you another RX-8 they already had allocated....dealer may be blowing smoke up your you know what.

Well, then there was my car.
Ordered in April, finally got a VIN # and Window Sticker printout from the Mazdausa website around August 1st. With spare tire kit and cargo net as port-installed options. I still have it posted in my office at work.
Car built August 4th.
Nordic Green, Grand Touring, black/chapparal leather, no nav.
Just the way I ordered it.
Cargo net and spare tire kit as only port-installed options. Car in port Sept 7, car ships Sept 26th. I pick it up the 29th, come see it the 28th.
Cargo net: check. Spare tire kit: nope.
New window sticker: VIN # matches the one I printed in August, I have a printout copy of the dealer order screen with cargo net and spare tire kit (which was important, as at one point they had added the appearance package... I got 'em to remove that!). So far as I know, this *is* my car.
Just no spare tire kit.
Now, that being the case, it wasn't the dealership's fault, but they also didn't make me pay for something I didn't receive.
Old invoice: 31,535. New invoice: 31,140 (MSRP). As it should be.
That's the price I paid, no spare tire kit paid for, no spare tire kit received; spare tire kit ordered originally, not on current invoice.
I may just wait for my debit card, and get it ordered later. Sucks that it didn't come in at the port, but I also didn't want to ... I don't know... send it back to get the spare tire put on? No way.
So... there you go. My theory: Mazda didn't want to delay shipment any longer waiting for spare tire kits, and got it out the door. Since my original window sticker printout with the VIN # I purchased had the spare tire on it (and cargo net) ... I can only assume it was Mazda's decision, not a screw-up by my dealership.

I was at my dealer today, asking about my rotery kit, which was due in last month
I was told that all are being routed to the port, for instelation on new models. I was alsomtold to go "tweak" the sales manager, as I am one of three who were promised the accents, and still do not have them. It was implied that they may give me the strakes for my trouble.
The point is , Mazda may well have a problem with parts at the port. I wouold think that is not a dealer issues, BUT, they told me the dealer installed parts were done at the port!
Confusing for sure, I hope this gets fixed for you.
