If the RX8 wasn't on the market ....

I probably would've kept my '04 MS Miata, though I'd finally—somehow—get the hardtop adjusted so it would stop wind-leaking at speeds over 50mph. Or I'd get a new GTI or maybe wait for the next gen Mini Cooper S.

Stuck in a love triangle
When I got my first RX-8 there really wasn't any other car in that price range that I was considering. Back in 03, for something around 27k - 30k you were basically stuck with sedans, 350Z, or something used.
If I had to part ways with the RX-8 today though, I'd probably get a Solstice GXP since it's going to be around the same price as an RX-8 when it comes out later this year.

surpised how many people considered the third gen rx7, and some even high on the list. i find it strange because its such a different car. the fd being a not daily drivable weekend car without refinement and such, where as i would think rx8 drivers would be people that want refinement, luxury and a car that they can daily drive(which is why they have them haha) not to mention the rx8 is maintenance free except oil every few months.
and as for what car i would have picked over the rx8 it would have been the between the s2000 or evolution 9 for sure.

^^THE ONLY and only reason i got the 8 was because it was the best value for money in terms of looks performance and versatility. i picked it up new for 37K incl. taxes.. no other car in or near its class was that well priced..so it was a steal in a way... otherwise it would have been the 2 below!
350
sti (if the evo was available in canada then i would get that!)
if i had to go used then an FD or Supra or S2K (not worth it brand new)

For everyone that says the G35, (including me) drove the hell out of my friends over the weekend. Quick but terrible handling. I would definitely not get that car if I had the choice. Downgrade from the 8
