Having the baby last year really changed up what we had. At the begining of 2006 I daily drove a '03 WRX and had a '89 Porsche 944 Turbo as my weekend warrior. My wife had a '02 Protege 5. Now we're down to two cars a '06 Element for the wife and an '06 RX-8 for me? I guess we both like those weird rear doors .

edit: My younger brother drives a '06 350Z and I think its a pretty damn good car.
I'm lucky enough to have 2 really good Mitsubishi dealers in my area. The one that I deal with is very mod friendly and they offer Buschur packages with their cars with full factory warranty. The owner, sales manager, and 2 techs have 6 Evos between them and they're always oganizing Evo gatherings. It was the final straw that pushed me away from the STI and into an Evo. Sadly, there are a lot of bad Mitsubishi dealers out there.

Redpit10,
Good to hear! Make sure to share some pics when the work gets done (or in progress). When my son gets older I'd like to do a project car with him. Maybe an old Porsche or MR-2 turbo (I've owned 2 previously and I love those cars).

It was definately one of the best father-son bonding experiances I had as a kid. Even today when I get it all fixed up it will still be our (my father and I's) car. I might even give him full ownership (of course i'll need to drive it). I think an MR-2 project would be awesome. I probably would have bought an import to fix up, if thats what my father was into as a kid. He just always told me these great stories involving american muscle and I guess thats what made me go domestic. Im sure your son will love your import stories and that will prompt him to go that direction also.

Sorry for getting all sentimental on your thread. Quick do something manly (ripping out chest hair).

I've always hoped I'd find some '92 MR2 turbo hardtop for a really good price as a project car. All of them available in my area have either been ragged out, are overpriced, and I've never seen a hardtop.

Get a '93 if you can. Larger brakes, wheels, LSD, revised suspension, short throw shifter etc.. I've owned a '93T and '91T and the '93T was much better.

I miss that car .

I've always heard that the revised suspension on the '93 dumbed the MR2 down.

Here's my old WRX shortly after I got it.

and my Evo

This is what I love about this club. We are all true car enthusiasts! As for me I would probably be driving a 350Z if it werent for that jackass of a salesman. Depending if its still available by 2010 I may get one or the EVO X

God i love evos....i love the look of them... we dont have them up in canada.. some stupid law about the front bumper.. so when we do get them. its going to look different.. ..
id like to chim in and say i dont mind the 350z either.. its a fun car to drive.....the only thing i didnt like about it was the way it felt when i sat in it.. i felt to .. up high.. like a normal sedan rather then a sports car.. maybe it was becusae i was jsut coming out of a 94 trans am. and those thigns are super low to the ground.. but it felt to high to me... other then that.. if someone offered me straight up rx8 for 350z id consider doing it

i really like the Z, i think it looks very nice actually. my problem with the Z is that there are so many of them around and almost all of them dont take advantage of its performance. most that i see get a ridiculous stagger and slam it to the ground. looks nice but it has so much more potential

Of course we'd still have the RX-8 if the new Z wasn't released. The two are competely unrelated.

what is this? kiss and make up day?

seriously though the reason why I like this forum is because of the maturity level of the people here. I mean theres always a few bad apples that likes to do nothing more than to put down other cars they could have bought in order for them selves to feel good about their decision. Even those people tend to turn around over time.

Compared to most other forums, the rx8 forum is way more mature and immature car bashing is much less frequent. Its really a good community

I like the Z, hell part of the reason we have 8's is b/c Nissan brought the car back. Its a bit heavy for my tastes, but its a good sportscar if you can deal with only two seats. Nissan has made steady improvements to the car which is nice. I like the 8's looks over the Z, but thats purely personal preference. Its like Subi, I respect the cars, just don't like the looks.

Depending on how the new "z" looks in 2009, its a potential replacement if it doesn't get heavier.

I like z's also. but right now F&F 3 scar me for life. Every time i see a 350z on the road, i think of that evil person driving that black 350z from F&F 3. I have seen help about this problem, but the image of him still burns in my head. Kinda of like evil monkey from Family Guy.

i blame my wife for renting that movie

I guess I don't care about the cars I don't like enough to say I hate it. Unless it'a riced up RX-8, now it's personal

I too like the Evo and 350Z, for their performance if nothing else. Couldn't afford an Evo with the high maintenance/insurance cost; and I need a trunk and more than 2 seats as my only car, so can't get the Z either.

No problems here with the 350. I got the 8, and have close friends who drive 350z, G35, M3, Vette, one just picked up the Sky Turbo, and another has a V8 foxbody on order. Then there is the F-150 guy....
Nobody hates, we all have our likes and dislikes, and its fun to sit around and shoot the **** about cars.

Nice.

Too bad the 8 vs 350 thing will always center around HP. Both are great cars that each have strengths and weaknesses. I drove the Z when I was considering a new car and other than the interior, I was impressed.

People get way too pissy about their cars but I guess when you are spending 30K+ you want to feel like you made the right choice.

Even though I may be a little younger than some of the other forum members (18), I do have a relatively good paying job so to the disbelieve of my peers I was in the market for the 350Z, Evo, Sti, and obviously the 8. I've actually had the pleasure in either driving or being in everyone of these cars and the Rx8 is the only one that really grabbed my attention in both looks and driving pleasure as well as low insurance costs which was a MAJOR concern of mine. But I do not want to give the wrong impression with my post, I thought that all of these cars especially the Z were great cars but were not my taste. So to the dismay of many of my friends, I went out and purchased the 8 and to this day my friends which all own the previous cars I've mentioned still get mad that I have more people taking a double take of my car instead of theirs. So to wrap it up I just can't stand the bashing threads created by people who can not give credit when credit is due...if you don't like a car, don't buy it. It's as simple as that.

Chris

I had the 350Z roadster and I received alot more attention with it than I do with the 8 (maybe because there are a lot more Z's out there...) but I missed the RX8, and I wasn't as confident in the handling ability with the Z as I am with the 8. Great torque, awesome stock sound system... I guess I was also afraid they'd come out with a hard top and then I'd start to regret it even more...
