It laps the Ferrari Fiorano track one second faster than an Enzo. If Ferrari hasn't called you, you're not getting one.

Confirming earlier stories of a new, limited edition high-performance model, Ferrari has taken the wraps off the 599 GTO in advance of its world debut next week at the Beijing Motor Show. The car is an evolution of the 599XX track machine and carries its new designation in honor of previous race cars turned loose on the street like the 250 GTO and the F40’s forerunner, the 288 GTO.


Calling it the fastest road-going Ferrari ever, the factory says the front-engine rear-drive 599 GTO, which develops 670 bhp and 457 lb.-ft. of torque, holds the track record at Fiorano with a lap of 1:24 (although other records show the 510-bhp F430 Scuderia being a tenth of a second quicker). Still, that’s nearly a full second faster than the Enzo. The car can accelerate to 62 mph in 3.35 sec. and has a top speed of nearly 208 mph.


The car’s lightweight construction results in a dry weight of 3289 lb. that, when factored with the 670 bhp output of the 6.0-liter V-12, results in a power-to-weight ratio of just under 5 lb. for each horsepower.


In addition to lightweight construction that includes thinner glass and aluminum panels, the 599 GTO is equipped with second-generation carbon ceramic brakes that measure 15.7 in. front and 14.2 in. rear and rides on new 20-in. wheels that are slightly wider than stock, 9.5 in. wide in front and 11.5 in. wide in the rear. These alloy wheels are shod with Michelin 285/30 front and 315/35 rear high-performance tires.


The 599 GTO eschews the rear-pillar winglets of the 599XX, but adopts a number of that car’s aerodynamic features including a new nose profile, a flat bottom beneath the car and unique wheel doughnuts—a disc positioned outside the brake rotor that directs hot air exiting the wheel arch to keep it close to the vehicle’s body to further reduce drag.


The 599 GTO’s suspension has been retuned with new springs and a stiffer rear anti-roll bar and features a second-generation Vehicle Dynamic Control system with revamped magnetorheological shocks. The control system works in tandem with the latest version of the F1-Trac traction control unit, both of which can be tailored via the steering wheel-mounted switches. Ferrari has also fitted the cockpit with longer carbon-fiber paddles for easier use of the 6-speed F1 sequential-shift gearbox. The GTO features a new Virtual Race Engineer that gives the driver a head-up display of vehicle performance. Ferrari says the production run of the 599 GTO will be limited to just 599 units.

Looks like you can see subtle RX8 S2 lines in the front and with a modified Kenstyle rear... just saying

I loved the 599GTB. I'm not sure what verb I can use that beats "love", but I ______ the 599GTO.
