Buddy’s second Lamborghini Gallardo (Crashed first one)

I got my 8 just before my 18th birthday, really appreciated it and love it. But, I do have to say that's a bit much... crashed the first and gets another. As kane said, if it wasnt his fault, that's more understandable but you did say "hit a taxi" not "hit by a taxi" so I'm doubtful it wasnt his fault... Just to add another reason to this though: I wouldnt give a high school kid a car like that if he was driving it to school and such. College is a bit more understandable, but even at some nice high schools, there's those kinds of kids that just wont respect property, out of jealousy or w/e, which I just wouldnt trust. Though, a car that fast is a little irresponsible to give to a kid... I'm sure there's a decently fast sporty sedan that would be more fitting for a high schooler (as far as responsibility goes, that seems like a better pick, even if it is the same price range). I honestly wouldnt have wanted a gallardo when I was in high school unless I had another car to drive to school as well.
Edit:
[QUOTE=ChuLooz;2000439]is that a ferrari or Aston in your avatar?
It's an aston I believe, I noticed that when I saw his first post as well. But seeing as he's here, it's only a car he likes, but not owns. Guessing he has an 8. The aston is definitely pic worthy imo. I got to sit in one in japan at a dealership and must say I wouldnt mind owning one
Edit 2: decided to put some effort in (not much actually), checked the site and it definitely is an aston martin DB9 or V8 vantage

You're right, we shouldn't judge his character based on what car his parents bought him. We're just saying that a 500+hp Lamborghini is too much car for ANY high school kid, and he proved us right by wrecking the first one.

That kind of car is an absolutely insane gift to give to an 18 year old kid. Especially one who lacks the intense racing background of your typical future F1 driver; and he proved that by totalling his first one. The temptation of 500+ horses, along with influence from friends ("c'mon, let's see what she'll do"), coupled with plain inexperience is a recipe for disaster.

Most of us arent trying to be mean or rude I believe, just evaluating the situation. He may not act spoiled, but he is if he's in high school and owned 2 gallardos. I dont think I act spoiled, but I know I am (I do have an 8). I'm sure your friend is a good guy, but we're saying the parents didnt think it through very well. I honestly would not want to park a car like that at a high school... I know many kids would see that as asking to have it vandalized. Even if he is responsible and nice, that's a lot of car. You do need to realize some people here think that high school kids having an rx8 is overly spoiled and rediculous... so a gallardo will have a similar reaction for more people. I thought kids at my school with $100k cars were rediculous, and from some of the stories I heard, it really was.

What a blessing to be sporting a Lambo in HS! Looking back at my high school years though, just having a restored Barracuda in the lot made me nervous about theft and vandalism during class. Lots of punks and haters at that age. I can't imagine the scale of concern when it comes to an exotic like a Gallardo.
BTW...last time my car was tuned it put down the EXACT same WHP as a stock Gallardo my tuner had baselined earlier that morning. I think it was an '03 or '04 model though. Since then I've heard they've been bumped from 450hp to about 550hp though.

If I make 24 million a year
I would buy my kid a lambo or two
I work for alot of people that make this kind of money and do things that most people only dream about!!
I am glad I am climbing my way up!!

Lambo and highschool don't mix IMO. I agree with whoever said it'd be a good car if he was a future F1 driver in training and coming from a racing background, but after trashing the car I'm thinking no.
Quite honestly though, even if I had tons of money I still wouldn't buy a lambo or ferrari. They're nice cars I'll give them that, I just find them too flashy and hyped up for my personal tastes. I'll take a classic muscle car or rotary ANY day over one of those.

****! That white looks incredible on that car. The Gallardo is my favorite car ever :P Damnit I didn't think it'd look that sleek in white. Thanks for sharing; post more if you have them!

Ok, I'm 17 and I thought getting the Rx-8 was a little insane. My parents believe I am responsible but if I got into an accident that totaled my car... I'm quite sure they would not buy a new one. AND DAMN!! A Lambo? Seriously, I think the only reason possible to buy a kid a Lambo is if he has been driving go karts since he was 8 and is in a racing series (like in an article MotorTrend that I vaguely remember). Even then that is iffy.

Lol, it's funny how so many people get their pantyies in a bunch about some kid, somewhere, which none of us will meet has a Lambo. I know if I was a 16 -18 year old kid again, and my parents were dumb enough to get me not one, but two Lambo's, you can be pretty damn sure I would take them up on that!

wut can u do? ppl have money... this isn't the first time i've heard of spoiled high school kids. one of my friend's boyfriends (during hs) had a ferrari and totalled it.. his parents bought him another. and a friend of a friend had an m3 and got pissed one day when someone cut him off... so he rear-ended the guy on purpose. his parents rewarded him with a porsche carrera turbo.
at a lesser extent, one kid at my high school had a new corvette every year (they'd just trade in his old one). wut i find interesting is that all the other cars at this school... in this little town... are crap.

WHY?!? how can you ask such a question? do you realize that something like this is the ultiamte form of spoild? is that a ferrari or Aston in your avatar? i should never have to ask a highschool kid that question. im not suprised a family with globs of money would buy their newly licensed kid a sports car, but jeeze a lambo...not everyones a genius. and then get him another after he crashes, cmon. wait no to get him one in the first place is insane. i usually dont say this, but if you want to find spoiled kids im sure theres class's full of em at your school...where are you located? if my folks offered me a lambo right now i wouldnt take it.
Let's say a family makes ten million a year, why is it unreasonable for them to buy their kid a lambo? It's all based on your perspective. A relatively low income family probably won't buy their kid a car, where as a middle income family will get their kid a car, and a wealthy family may buy their kid a very nice car. You frown upon the wealthy for buying their kids nice cars that are relative to their income, but you don't think of people who have no money and look down upon normal people for buying their kids cars at all. You look at the rich who buy their kids really nice cars and say "Why?" Yet people in poverty look at people who buy their kids cars and say "why?"
If it's not a question of money, but rather the performance of the vehicle, why is a high school student not able to handle it? You are making many assumptions, 1 being that the student is not a good driver. You don't know the circumstances of the crash and you can't judge someones driving experience based off of their accident record. Lastly, I would make a very good argument that a younger student has a much better reaction time than older drivers.

I helped my 19 year old brother buy a bike. That is probably more dangerous, but I spent some time teaching him how to drive and I trust him.
What his family does with their money is their problem and not yours. It is a nice problem to have and I am glad I got to see a white Gallardo. That is a first for me and I see plenty of them as the local Lotus dealership is also a Lamborghini dealer.

Although the original poster's reply of "yes...why" was completely and utterly stupid, I still must reply to your response.

Having said that, it is nearly IMPOSSIBLE that BOTH 1). The crash's circumstances weren't the kid's fault and 2). the kid has professional racing experience and experience with other sports cars.
Reaction time? It can argued that kids are more likely to wander off and do other things, ala your teeny boppers whose makeup is a priority. And then there's just the traffic experience. It takes YEARS to get to know the behavior of traffic, so 3). I highly doubt the kid is a prodigy who breezed through driving school and had a perfect driver's license test.
Moot post.

Make up????? Besides the fact I think the gallardo kid is a guy, cell phones would be my first choice of driving distractions for just about anyone out there, but younger kids more so I believe. I do agree with your post though. And generally (notice I said generally, not all), young male drivers are going to be driving more aggressively and be more likely to try to race and such. Insurance is a good indicator of these statistics. Not saying this kid is specifically the case, but with that kinda car, it seems like the parents are taking a lot more than monetary risk. There's a difference between money and safety.

Well atleast all of you who had your parents buy your 8 won't get ragged on as much anymore with this thread around ..........
I don't think it matters if the kid got a beater...an 8 ....or a lambo....at the end of the day he would still live in Canada....have a Rich family....and probally get mad poon...be happy for him......
I thought I was hot **** with my 89 Z24 back in HS...and infact in my military town I was lol =) .....so all the more power to him
