Although the IS500 might surprise you... if Toyota is smart enough to put a stick in it. Supposedly Porsche is doing the suspension tuning...

I would take the 335ci over the IS350 any day of the week. Not a big fan of any Lexus product though. The GS isn't bad......but I would take the 335ci over the GS also.

Hopefully. Toyota makes great cars, but they have difficulty in finding that special magic in their sports sedans to make them truly special.

I just boughta 350 as my daily driver. Keeping the 8 as my "fun to drive" vehicle. So I guess I am getting the best of both worlds?! The 350 has been a stellar car for the long drives here in S. Texas, but the 8 still makes me feel alive on the road. Glad I am able to have both.

First off the 4gr-fse engine is the black sheep of the GR family. Compared to the MB 2.5 liter engine, only 3 more peak hp (and the 4gr has electric power steering, direct injection and a higher compression ratio), but less power overall. The MB engine has dual length intake manifold and is coupled to the 7g-tronic.

The four wheel drive is good(planetary center differential with clutch pack lockup), but integration into the platform looks to be an afterthought at best. The caster axis is reduced for slower steering, the rear wheel gap is huge because of the same sized tires 225/45 17 F&R, as compared to the 225/45 245/45 F/R, and the taller rear springs.
The IS250 is 125lbs heavier than the IS350, and shifts the front/rear balance from 52/48 to 54/46.
Does the IS 250 have a full size spare wheel? or a mini-spare which would limit maximum speed to ~50mph.
That IS250 top speed is capped to 130.

Toyota should have made an ~250hp IS300 with the 3gr-fse & an ~325hp IS400 with a 1gr-fse (just a longer stroke than the 2gr-fse) So the GS can have an 'entry level' ~300hp GS350-2gr-fse.

Everyone is gonna have a BMW coupe....don't let it hamper with your ego if you get it....If you are more business like, IS, fun, BMW.....simple as that.

I'd go with Lexus only because the Bmw service here is nothing short of atrocious. You can't go wrong with either though. Very good choices.

Good info. Thanks. I'm not sure on the spare tire though. Nothing short of a test drive would probably reveal that.
