A huge spike in the dyno doesn't mean anything except that it's torque curve is non linear, which isn't really a good thing. An engine could very well be making very low amounts of torque, until the cam switch over, showing a huge peak on a dyno, but will be significantly slower than a car that produces the same max horsepower, but a linear torque curve.
