and 1 more to close it out for this update...

As you can see, he finished covering the relocated fuel cell and added a popper fuel cap. Also, he did part of the new rear bumper and tailgate.

Cool truck. I have a '53 Chevy pickup sitting in line to be worked on. Plan to do transplant of C4 corvette suspension with LT1/700r4 drivetrain. Maybe I'll get to it in the next ten years or so.

That's coming along nicely. Everyone keeps saying it needs a V8, but the old six cylinders had decent torque. It will be a lot easier to keep gasoline in the tank with the 6.

Looks like a nice project.
I did a '49 back about 15 years ago.
Also a 3/4 ton long bed......
Did it in yellow
Camaro front clip, and rear end and springs. Hand built the bed and tailgate but looked semi stock.
Power steering, A/C, Disc brakes, tilt, automatic.
Took bar out from middle of windshield, frenched power antena, shaved door handles
I have some pics if you want some ideas. I did some cool work on the gauges and such.
This was before digital cameras so I would have to scan them and the post. Out of town this weekend....may can get them first of the week.

Post them, I'm sure my pops would be interested in seeing them. He has a pretty clear image on how he wants to do the truck, but they may spark some ideas.

Nice, tilt front end? That's awesome. He won't be doing that, but I think it's friggin' awesome!

My Grandpa drove one of those dang contraptions... Right after he sold his horse team that delivered steel tubing to machine shops.
