What is the symptom of a failed steering rack?

 

I got 2 steering racks coming end of the month. Who wants better book it first coz next shipment won't be so soon.

 

Hard to turn, jerking at the start, or the check light comes out......

 

this page got problem, sometime shown 30 + page sometime shown all. how came !

i got 3 members here got engine check ligh on without knowing whats wrong. checked every potential problem, ignition coil, plug, o2 sensor, AF, vacuum.

 

pg 8 started to take action already. not bad. :P

 

Do you mean all those are stock without any mod?? Check light will always there If it's turbo. For ignition coil, you must check whether all omps are equally the same, O2 sensor oni can be check by OBDII tester, there's compression test too....... If your frens don't mind, pay Ah Choy fly over for checking, he got tools......

 

Root cause of the failure = the wheels spinned with the DSC on and forced the car to slow down?

 

More to heat problem, it's close to the engine.... Hydraulic one got less problem....

 

why people always want to take up the Mazda logo and empty there, Mazda logo very bad meh ? I feel RX8 without logo, look abit like fake fake one...

OMG, no wonder the stupid CEL came on, must be the steering problem then (i didn't know steering prob would ignite the CEL...got connection ah?). it's really not big of a hassle, just have to warm up the car then it's fine. i can live with that, actually....and i thought the CEL came up had to do with my changing of spark plugs when i got them changed a month back...

Can you share with me who is Ah Choy? You got his contact? Where to get aftermarket steering rack? RM 4k is expensive man...i'm selling the dumb car.

Electrical driveshaft should have a self diagnosis system, incase it's was koyak, it can warn you.... A malfunction driveshaft can send youstraight to the wall.........

Ah Choy's number is 0192736362..... There's not many second hand left in KL...... Ah Choy sources for second hand rotary parts every day oso out of stock.......

 

Shouldn't the Power Steering light also come on when the Steering Rack malfunctions?

Yeap, i'm talking about steering check light....... If it's engine check light, most probably are ignition coil and O2 sensor....... But some how i think ignition has something to do with steering malfunction, stable voltage is very important.....

normally u don't straight go for a change for the steering wheel rack...

if just vibration during cold start ......

check the wiring harness and connectors 1st

you just pull the airbox out and the two connectors are staring you right in the face

One of the connectors is power for the rack itself and has two wires running through it.

The other is a 3-pin connector that carries the torque sensor data.

clean them.... check if the wires are in good condition.... if they are not.... change them lor.... still cheaper than changing the steering rack.

if all fails then only change the steeering rack....
