Hi y'all,

Driving the 8 is sure thrilling and time sure past fast.
In a blink of the eye, my 6 months road tax is up.

I'm driving the PI Auto 8.
The base model comes with electric folding mirrors, window tinting.

Most of the PI and MM8s that I have seen here are equipped
with halogen projector headlights.
Our 8 headlight when on will start from white
and turn slight yellowish after 1 or 2 minutes.
I don't think HID is available on the 8
but in the States, they do have Xenon headlights as an option.

DSC and 6 airbags is normally on MM8.
2 of the airbags is located on the side of the front seat itself
which normallly is also electrically operated.
Base model is still the mechanical slide type and normally don't
come with these options.

CD player or Mini disc or "MP3" encoded disc player is a common option.
U can buy or change it seperately. Leather seats is also a common option.

I have yet to see a Type E Auto here. To me, it's rarer than a SPL2/Shinka2.

Juz my 2 cents worth lah.......

On this subject of PI and PI cars, my personal take is

1. go to one with ready stock so u can see for urself, u know the OMV and u can get the car in less than 2 weeks after u sign hehe

2. If u order, u have to wait from 6 weeks to dunno how long. Too many uncertainties for my liking as well as (touch wood), u run the risk of the PI close shop and lose the deposit

3. Dont worry too much abt warranty issues etc. If PI close shop, no one will provide the warraty anyway. There are many competent garages around to service the 8. If u really not sure, go to reputable ones like WOW, GR etc

Done hesitate too long and try and save $1 to 2k by waiting. Go and buy those ready stock and enjoy the car ASAP.

Cheers

Its at least 8k over the base model.

Hey P. Actually, you HAVE seen a couple of Type E Autos at the meets, but perhaps you didn't notice they are Type Es. Shinkas are more easily identifiable so maybe you notice more of them around.

I think the Rx8 4 AT basic model from most PIs in Singapore only has 2 airbags and not 6. It also does not have the DSC, xenon and electric seats. The 6 Cd in-dash is an option; I was also told some people has that in the boot.

huh...i always thought xenons were pretty on most 8's brought into s'pore.
the yellowish tinge is due to the colour temp of the xenon bulb used...most likely 4300k. to get purer white, change to 6000k bulb.

While we are on this topic, does anyone know what is the max temperature of bulbs we legally are allowed to use on our headlights?
