Calski ION Accelerator work instantly when installed. As the fuel passes the magneto hydrodynamic effect field; that penetrate through ...
Thanks craz! It's been great fun, especially driving through the old Lim Chu Kang twisties that I have to take now that I'm doing my ICT..

Regarding the Calski explanation, it sounds quite dodgy to me. Lots of scientific sounding terms thrown together, but not making much sense. Eg, "hydrodynamic effect field", I've googled this:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Magnetohydrodynamic_drive
and
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Magnetohydrodynamics

It basically means that the fluid must become electrically conducting before it can be affected by the magnetic field, like I mentioned earlier. Seawater can, becos it is essentially an electrolyte (ionic solution) with all the Na+ and Cl- ions in it. Even then, an electric current must be passed through it. Petrol, however, does not contain free ions to allow the flow of electrons/electricity. Not sure how petrol can be affected by the field to even produce the free radicals as claimed.

The ideal stoichiometric ratio quoted is correct, but I'm sure the device can't detect exactly how much fuel/air is in the combustion chamber, as that is constantly varying according to demand. Especially not if it is upstream from the intake manifold, along the fuel line. How can it then affect the stoichiometric ratio on its own?

I'm still not convinced, but thanks for taking the trouble to post the Calski explanation, though!

Rotary newbie here. 2wks old 6AT on stock 16"rims.

1) Been reading this thread but found no favourable answer to which oil [mineral (rotary or normal) or synthetic (full or semi)] is the best for the renesis rotary.

2) Any difference (on FC) or damage done if using RON95. Currently using Caltex Gold or Ron 98.

2) Search but no results. How to break in?

Thank you in advance. Cheers

wooooo, best tank of fuel on my 6th tank. 479.1 km on 55.35L of Shell 98. 1 year old 4AT. But this anomaly prob due to over 90% expressway driving. Had 1 day where travelled non-stop on expressway, about 150km clocked doing consecutive milkrun type of profile.

Take a look at this thread, should answer most of your questions:

https://www.rx8club.com/rx-8-faq-9/faq-update-63747/

Btw, there's no favourable answer regarding which oil is BEST because there's a lack of hard evidence and a properly constructed experiment. There are, however, oils which you should NOT use because they're suspected to be behind some engine failures. Can't remember which ones, though. =P

1) synthetic oil such as idemitsu, royal purple, trust, RE, HKS. Specifically for rotary.

2) better use RON 98 as it gives you better mileage and protection.

3) Break in or Run in? don't rev more than 3000 RPM and till 1000km. After that you can enjoy the car.

i'm staying in sengkang
my PI workshop is Gary 's Engineering at paya ubi industrial park.
Anyone went there before or serviced there before? I wanna find out whether that place is good a not, if not i think i'll bring her to other place for servicing.

My warranty is 1 yr and free servicing labour for 5 years.

How's your fuel consumption coming along?
I haven't finish the first tank yet. but mine is at the 1/4 mark and about 320km liao. Hopefully i can hit 400km before the light comes out.

I think no chance too. The last 1/4 finishes very quickly.
Much quicker than the other quarters.

I must be doing something wrong...

Got my 6MT second last week and only achieved 260km on 55litres of V-Power. That's like less than 5km/l which is way below the average. Granted, it's not totally emptied out yet but the fuel tank indicator light is up already this morning.

Will check out how my second tank does and update here again.

V power traditionally has poor FC. But driving style is also a factor. Still 260km is a little the ermmmmm low... or is this the characteristic of a new car?

Thanks sushifan for the info. I myself also felt very ermmm...

Didn't know that V Power suffered from that..

Anyways, pumped Shell 98 today instead - will see how that goes.

Might wanna try Esso's 5000 next - liked the fact that they have DBS ATMs at most major kiosks.

Hi all,

Just sent my car for the 1k service.

Sent to MBMWheelpower at Sin Ming.
Was informed by them that they used Mobil Semi-syn 15W-50.

Any advice on this Semi Syn using on the renesis?

Thanks in advance.

Hi Go drive,

The renesis should not use syn or semi-syn at all. It can use mineral and certain brands of synthetic such as idemitsu, trust, RE...

You should just ask for mineral for the 1k, 5k & 10K. After the free servicing is done, go else where for servicing such as MG or GR. Then go for the above mentioned syn.

Have read about it on several websites when you do a google search on rx8 + synthetic oil. Fact or fantasy I guess up to the reader to decide?

My PI workshop is MBM...they noe nuts abt rotary...put in the same engine oil as
ur car n insisted its alright...ended up I have to go straight down to mg n drain
out their oil n replace it wif mineral oil...

Any form of synthetic or semi synthetic oil except meant for rotary will eventually
hurt the engine in the long run...my advice to u is to drain it out n replace the oil
as soon as posible...
