Mine was 350/53L when stock. Then with Trust exhaust, it was 290/53L. Then now with some cheapo $200 air duct(exhaust still Trust), I am now getting 370/53L.

Hi SushiFan,

It works like pieces of magnet attached to the car fuel line.. intention is to change the molecular structures of the fuel so that they can break down more efficiently - creating better power and incidentally (though not all cars experience it) reduce fuel consumption. Came across it in Wheels magazine, went check it out with some friends who drive celica and REX and they also recommend ... but i not sure if the calski can do anything to an 8..

thats about 8km/litre, guess most brothers here manage an average of about 7-7.5km/litre from what's being posted so far.. so u are above average

The calski thing is it a legal mod? I guess with such devices they must give significant improvement to the FC else its waste of $$. E.g. If device cost $200 and improves 7.2 to 7.25. It means every litre you travel 0.05km more which is 0.7% improvement. So it should save 0.7% of your fuel about 0.7% x $100 (ave) for a full tank of Shell 98 = 70 cents. $200 divide by 70 cents = about 286 times you need to refuel to break even investment = 286 x 450km (distance per full tank) = 128700km. wow...that's in 6 years (@ 20000km per year) if you ever keep your 8 that long?

Hi SushiFan,

i like the way that u work out your maths haa...

Anyway my friend pass me this website to look for more information http://www.warom.net/calski.html , u can go read.. what's written is increase torque/horses at no addtional fuel consumption ..

I going try it out after i get my 8, now carless so cant comment much..

Any other brothers who has tried this may want to comment?

cheers

dun waste ur time on these kind of fuel saving gadgets... they are useless, period. Most of the time, they are psychological. U r better off spending ur money on other stuffs.

Having said that, want to play car, dun worry abt petrol. Wan to worry abt petrol, rx8 not the car for u.

Spark Plus

I have noticed that my fuel consumption has improved by 5 to 10% since I changed my spark plugs. recently. I noticed a fuel efficiency drop a few months ago but attributed it to needing a re-flash or something. I should have done this earlier than when I did at 41k.
Stop your worrying and just change the plugs earlier.

How can a magnetic field affect molecules that don't react to magnetism? Fuel molecules are hydrocarbon chains, carbon and hydrogen atoms only. An electric current must be passing through molecules of that sort before any magnetic effects can be produced or induced, like in graphite or carbon nanotubes.

My guess is, unless there are microscopic ferro-magnetic particles (eg iron) flowing with the fuel, the magnetic field that Calski produces doesn't affect the fuel flow at all.

What's the details (name, type, $$?) of this spark plug?

Hi Bro Rumboo!

Hope u been having great fun with your 8

Anyway this is wat i have extracted from the calski web site with regards to your question:

How It Works?
Calski ION Accelerator work instantly when installed. As the fuel passes the magneto hydrodynamic effect field; that penetrate through rubber, polyethylene, aluminium, copper and stainless steel hose. Oxidation takes place rapidly and releases free radicals called carbonium ions (CH3+).

Clustered fuel molecules which normally burning too slow or would not burn in the power stroke; are separated and permitting to mix homogeneously with the required 12.5 to 14.5 oxygen, stoichiometric ratio. This is how to increase the percentage of fuel burned in the power stroke, maximizing fuel combustion is accomplished, and without changing the chemistry of the fuel.

I may have mis-interpreted what's was being explained to me with regards to the molecule alteration- Pardon me for my lack of chemistry knowledge! Anyway i hope the above makes sense. I will give it a try for sure once i get my 8 due to recommendation from pple i know.

cheers!

We should have a competition to see who can acheive the best mileage. Each participant pay $10. Winner takes all.

Your car more powderful = you pay more fuel.

Well, my 5th tank today. 438km @ 56L. Not too bad. But I guess my better FC is attribute to more expressways driving.
