If you rev up the engine before you drop the gear in drive, you'll get sub 10 sec timing but risk visiting the workshop for a new gearbox in time to come. If you can get 6+secs on a stock 4AT, you da man! By the way, I know it sounds funny but hope you didn't measure a 0-60. The US guys do 0-60MPH and we do 0-100KM/H. Easy to mistake the units if one is not careful.

INXS, if your 8 is a stock 4AT, I would like the opportunity to measure a sprint on your ride to record the car/engine performance graphs. So far, I've only had 2 N/A 4ATs go sub 10 secs. It'd be nice to see a stock 4AT hit 8 +/- secs.

Flyer, how and where do you reckon? At least after the truth is cast, my heart will feel alot lighter...

About the same method used. To be exact:

1st gear : 6 rpm
2nd gear : 5 rpm
3rd gear : 100 clocked at ard 5 or 6.

theboy & INXS:
Seems like you guys are driving totally different cars from the ones we have tested. I can't remember the details but from what I remembered, they pulled to around 8.5K rpm and reached 100 in 2nd gear. At 6K rpm, I don't think the 13B has even reached peak power so it's hard to imagine being able to get to 100 in 6+/8+secs especially with another gearshift thrown in.

King105:
Hope you don't misunderstand me. I'm not out to bash any 8s regardless of the type of tranny or any other car for that matter. I'm only interested in the objective true performance figures.

i concur with flyer. THERE IS NO WAY THE RX8 4AT CLD HAVE DONE SUB 6, STOCK or slight mods. The best figures for the 4AT NA rx8 is 10secs flat.

Looking at the figures of the RPM, at 6k and 5k at 1st n 2nd gear respectively, theres absolutely NO WAY u guys cld hit 100km/h under 7secs. I will only believe if i seen it with my own eyes. Flyer and the grp of us have tried many many many times for 4AT and 6MT. sub 6 timings are only for the 6MTs. 4ATs are 10secs n above. No doubts abt it.

Hmmm ok... the only explanation would be eREaCTION error. Cant seem to find a more logical explanation to tt since it was firstly not measured using a proper tech gizmo and 2ndly, you guys seem to have been there, done that. Test and retest.

Thanks for enlightening

I thought we should be comparing with the 100-200km/h category, not the 0-100km/h category.

Stock. I too doubt its possible to hit below 7 secs. Below 8 maybe, with alittle skill. But 10 plus is highly unlikely; unless there is 2 heavy people sitting in a not-so-well maintained car with lots of other dead weight.

INXS - If you're like me and prefer to see things for yourself instead of taking someone else's word, I would be more than happy to assist you in measuring the performance of your 8. Just as a reference, I tested an auto 350Z overseas and it clocked a respectable 6+secs with relative ease. Granted the Z is heavier but it has loads of HP and torque. It's hard to believe a 4AT 8 can even get close to the performance figures of a 350Z in straight line acceleration.

PitchBlaC - Unlike you, us mere mortals only have 24 points on our driving licenses. Besides, 100-200km/h still takes quite some time on the 8 so nothing really to shout about unless you want to papaya to those who have speed cut at 180+km/h.

Are you talking about 4ATs? If so, I've never seen a stock or even modded NA 4AT hit below 9secs. Seems that all the 4ATs that are doing 10 secs are all 'highly unlikely'. So if anyone has the skill, please teach us how it's done. I wanna learn.

Anyway I bought my car bcos it is an FR. Didn't care much abt the speed thingy.

Just jack up the car and see the amount of engineering work put into it.
For the 8, the most important thing to me is the chassis.

Appreciate the car, not the speed.

one relatively light weighted member clocked the best at 10secs flat while no other 4ATs has done dat.... they clocked 10 plus plus. This is seen with real eyes, live...

unless ur car is super light weighted, which is impossible, FI, which is not fair to compare, i dun see how the 4AT can hit 0-100km/h from standstill in less than 8secs.

Final drive shld be able to make it slightly faster. But again, dun expect miracle like shaving off 4 secs from 0-100km/h.

Remapping of the ECU doesnt make the car faster and does not really give HP gains if the car remains stock....

sqflyer: Just wondering if all the test you guys did to get the sample results, were it done with different measuring equipment, or the same GTec PRO with all the cars?

That is what i suspect different engine and tuning? my car is a recon car, so i dunno whats exactly inside.
sorry i have to correct myself.

1st gear 7k RPM
2nd gear 5+ - 6k RPM (not 5k RPM, the torque here is too low and slow down)
3rd gear 100 kh/m

well i will make a video out of this so everyone will see the proof hahahhaa
but i think u can get one in youtube.

Called my friend from Japan TOP FUEL few seconds ago, they blame the ECU setting. anyone knows whether the Singapore government impose any law on this?

i am using 16" ..... -_-'' .....

Well guys i hope we can work together join hand in hand and look for the answer why. i am sure there is a reason why there is a gap of 4 seconds.

can those who gave us 10 second time give me these info.
1. Engine oil
2. rim size and tires
3. Fuel using, how many ron
4. Ecu remaped?
5. what ever u think is related.

mr kenji_jim was running on 16inchers. He oso failed to get less than 10secs......

Again, flyer can verify..

i tink there is this serious myth abt the re-mapping. It doesnt release enormous horsepower. U must have done the full exhaust system to realise the full potential.
