Century Sprint timing for 4AT?
Hi frens,
Not having much luck ploughing thru the websites/searches/brochures. Can anyone advise the official/recorded time for 0-100km/h for the 4AT? Just curious. Thanks. King105 |
heh two relevant quotes:
"wow....you can read the brochure"...."its not the ride, its the rider" |
snowWhite888, whats your timing for 0-100? With your light weight rims., should be about sub 6 right?
|
I think its going to take about half an hour for a 100km sprint. ;)
|
Bros,
Not a racer-at-heart, but just curious.. Can? :) Advice, please? Thks. King105 |
i dunno abt snowWhite888, but my timing for 0-100m is like 25 seconds. I think I can go faster if i take my shoes off. hehehe

sub 6 is only possible on the 6MT |
sub 6? if u lucky sub 10 lah. tried n tested.
|
Is my Auto baby that bad??.....
|
Stock 4AT century sprint done properly is just over 10 secs. Need mods to go below sub 10 secs.
|
Are you guys serious about it being 10secs +/-? Feels so much quicker than that.. I timed manually, reads about 7.8secs.. reaction time shouldnt be more than 0.5secs.
|
It's seriously 10+secs and not 10-secs. Even some manuals might have problem getting 7.8secs if not done correctly. How do you do your timings? Gotta use a scientific approach when it comes to getting performance figures. Eyeballing doesn't work. Do a Gtech run and see for yourself.
|
May 2006 run, AT, autoexe exhos mod only, ad07. Incline negligible, jurong port road. Laden weight 220kg incl 2 pax. Timed manually by passenger.
1st run: 10.22s 2nd run: 10.06s 3rd run: 10.09s |
0-100KM/H @ 10 seconds? are u sure? i will try mine tonight.
|
Yes..... I would conservatively put it at 10.5 secs. Rem that this is manual timing on a handphone stopwatch....for greater accuracy, try the gtech pro as sqflyer reccs.
|
Frens,
Not meant to get all the AT bros going sprinting to verify timing.. Do be discrete if you do so.. My latest search findings indicate 7.6-7.8 secs. I am abit surprised that with relatively higher torque and a auto tranny (max is 1 gear shift, rite)/earlier cutoff, the difference is 10+ vs 6+, to the 6MT? Maybe that is.. Thanks. King105 |
Timings for 4AT and 6MT has been confirmed many times. Let me stress again that 10+ sec timings are for LOCAL and STOCK 4ATs in LOCAL conditions. A search finding of 7.6-7.8 secs means nothing if they are modified 4ATs in different environments. 4ATs have marginally higher torque compared to 6MTs and both only require 1 gear shift, but the difference is the 6MTs have high power engines and can do a proper launch without wrecking the tranny.
|
Somehow i feel that aplenty of my coins and nickels have gone missing... For a difference of 15K+ btw the Manual and Auto, seperates both by 3-4secs...
Even the MX5(A) is stated to be 7.5secs... On hindsight, I take it that its the aesthetics curves that im paying for .... |

If yours is 10.5s, mines going to be 12secs... |
I tested my time.
1st Question, are you guys driving JDM car? 2nd Question, Did you guys use Semi-Auto for the test or just Auto? 3rd Question, How did u guys get 10 seconds? i tried mine it was around 6 with semi-auto even with Auto, step on it, definitely less than 10. |
I clocked mine manually twice, both timings below 8secs using +/-
|
Those 4ATs tested are JDMs. The 10+secs timing was done in semi-auto mode, and full auto mode is a little slower. Sprint was done with gear in drive, foot on brakes, engine rpm brought up to a point where the brakes can barely hold before the sprint is started. If you rev up the engine before you drop the gear in drive, you'll get sub 10 sec timing but risk visiting the workshop for a new gearbox in time to come. If you can get 6+secs on a stock 4AT, you da man! By the way, I know it sounds funny but hope you didn't measure a 0-60. The US guys do 0-60MPH and we do 0-100KM/H. Easy to mistake the units if one is not careful.
INXS, if your 8 is a stock 4AT, I would like the opportunity to measure a sprint on your ride to record the car/engine performance graphs. So far, I've only had 2 N/A 4ATs go sub 10 secs. It'd be nice to see a stock 4AT hit 8 +/- secs. |
well this is how i did it.
total stop, Gear 1 Boost to 7k RPM, Gear 2 Boost to 5k RPM, 3 Gear reach 100 km/h |
Frens,
Although I am not that hardup with the timing (the RX-8 feels powerful/fast for me- mind you I'm used to the torquey saab 95 turbo), I am somewhat heartened by bros theboy and INXS' replies. :) Thanks for that.. King105 |
