advise needed in changing my car.... thanks!

hi, i am currently driving an auto rx8 which was bought a year ago and i am thinking of switching into a manual jdm specs. can someone advice me as to whether its a good idea to change now or later? as i have no idea on PARF or COE or anything. i just got the green light from dad that as long he doesnt have to fork out anymore $$$ then its okay.

i came across this....

http://www.sgcarmart.com/main/info-2AvLU3XH-1059.html

i was wondering if its a good catch? i heard that its better to avoid the older rx8 because there are some minor problems. is it true?

thanks, any advice will be appreciated!

Hi Rayshaw23! Guess u wanna 6-speed eh? :D

Lohsk is right unfortunately - with plummeting prices u may have to scrap u RX and get another. Won't be cheap.

But if u really want, don't worry cos by now most (all?) quirks have been resolved. At least in the main. U may wanna get a pro to accompany u to give the RX a once over - that way u know better before committing. Best of luck!

I think there's market for Autos(cos' MM dont carries them). You'll loose money, but maybe not alot, why dont you call up those guys (with the yellow 8) and ask them what's the deal of swaping your auto to the manual.

y change to JDM spec where the top speed is cut at 180kph? isnt that pointless? having a 6 speed gear box n u cant even fully utilise its 4th gear(where as euro spec 4th gear can hit 207kph @9300rpm). same to ya 4speed isnt it? y waste that kinda $?

Maybe cheaper to do a engine swap/transmission swap. Doubt its legal though. But then again maybe possible.

May have to cut through loads of red tape. But then you will be the pioneer/saviour/messiah. Look at home beer brewing; someguy got it to be legal.

Maybe its just wishful thinking..

i believe that u enjoy your Rx8 and would like to furthur your enjoyment with some manual control.

But sad to said , it is a must for u to top up some money if u change to a Manual 6 Speeds one.

Cos..... The initial selling pirce of 6Speed manual car is already more expensive than an Auto 4 speeds one. So the 2nd hand price for Manual 6 Spd is still be higher than a Auto one (considering both the manual and auto car are of the same age)

The only way of not topping up any cash will be selling a 1 yr old Auto car for a 3-4 yrs old Manual car. But its quite impossible as most manual RX8 that is selling in the market is only around 2 yrs old

yeah, just went to check it out today, the price the dealer willing to take in my auto is 88000!!!! the yellow going for 110000. so need to top up another 22000! but the rx8 is spanking new! and looks sweet!
i guess serious consideration needs to be taken into account. anyone can give me an idea on how much a brand new jdm rx8 6 speed costs now? thanks for all your comments!
