Drifting Mods Rx8
#51
I've used that car mainly stock during the past years for some outlaw rallyes across Europe (black forest, and such), the car never broke due to overeating but it came close...
Now, we're supercharging the new ported 6-ports engine with a Pettit Racing SC with 14psi pulleys.
We've gone to huuuuge lengths to cool it down :
- CF vented hood (RE Amemiya)
- Mazdaspeed front bumper cover with larger air vents
- Water/meth injection (stage 3 from Snow performance)
- Pair of new oil coolers (from Mazdaspeed)
- extra pair of oil coolers (from RE Amemiya)
- High Efficiency radiator (from Jap speed I think)
- Electric water pump with low temp thermostat
- A LOT of room made in the engine bay by relocating everything electric to the back
- Aluminium undertray with twin fans
And... I'm installing an automatic fire extinguisher (OMP CESAL-4)... It cost a bit... But given what I usually invest in my cars, better safe than sorry.
(the CESAL-4 is great because it can kill fuel-related and electric fires alike, and since I'm separating them in all my builds... It's pretty easy to install)
I hope there are a few ideas that you might find helpful
