No, the church said no, so if all else fails I have a rest area in mind. I have places here in the 'Ville, but they are all a good distance from the highway, so I am iffy on those.

Signed up here just for the caravan info. Coming from Akron, Ohio down 71. Will meet up in Cinci, probably just leave my house around 4am to get there (with coffee stops and such)

tweiss. We'll keep you in the loop. I'm originally from the Youngstown/warren area, so I know the drive all too well. My dad's coming down from up there as well, but probably thursday night. We should have a pretty decent sized caravan once we hit lexington.

[QUOTE=fuztupnz;3903175] my wife is wary of strangers and thinks I'm strange enough /QUOTE]

Fuz - I agree with your wife I figure if anyone comes by and looks crazy I will smother them, bury them in the backyard, and then take their car - a win if they have an FD So if I show up to the caravan in an FD you better take stock on who is missing from the group

This will be a blast! less than 2 months away and counting!

I'm just glad that I have a group to drive down with. Its 10 hours for me, which isn't a problem, just not as much fun alone. Wifie is not coming with me this year (we went last year with a different group).

Oh, and I hope you guys plan on hauling *** the second we cross into KY. By that time I will be pissed off enough at ohio drivers and our shitty speed limit.

I was going to head right out of work thursday, but i'm cheap and poor and don't feel like sleeping in the car somewhere for hours.

Thursday DGRR run

Since the poll shows at least 4 people planning on traveling Thursday, let's see if we can put together a Thursday caravan as well. I will be leaving central Illinois early Thurs. AM, can route through Paducah, Indy, Cincy, etc. Anybody?

Hey Dirt.

It turns out the address is wrong on google maps for the Shell station in Lexington.

I've double checked it with Shell.com and here is the correct address and map.

Lexington-Winchester Shell
2297 THUNDERSTICK DR, LEXINGTON, KY 40505
Map: http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&sour...cky+40505&z=16

I read they are going to have a photo shoot at Fontana Dam Friday afternoon. We should go straight there first before going to the Village. This assumes we are going down the Hwy 29 to Hwy 28 to get to the Village. They don't say yet what time the shoot will be so maybe we have time to get to the village but would have to drive right back to where we just came from, waste of gas. I may just go straight to the Dam anyway and wait to save gas. Could stop at the gap and hang for a while to kill time. What is our route down?

I'm cool with that. I've never been down, so I wasn't sure what route to take. If nothing else, we can get pics of our caravan at the damn if we miss the main shoot. If you have some route ideas Cosmic, share em. We should probably get that figured out soon since it's only a month away

edit: Just looked at google maps and it's a little over 4 hours from lexington to go strait to the damn via 75 to 129 to 28. If we can get out of Lexington by noon or earlier, we can be there around 4:00. I think it's totally possible to get out of lexington before noon depending on the promptness and travel speed from cincy and louisville.

I went twice last year so I'm not a noob but this will be only my 4th trip to the area. When we get to Knoxville we head to Maryville and take 129 to deals gap and then turn on 28 to Fontana Dam. So we will hit two of the fun roads in route to the dam, The Tail 129 and Hellbender 28. They will post up the events times soon I hope, nothing posted yet.

I don't mind leading if no one in our group has more time in the area than I do. I was there last October when the leaves were changing, we camped out and it was a blast. Driving during the day and drinking by a camp fire at night. We plan on doing it again the 3rd weekend in October.

Woohoo. Based on the itinerary, we will be down in time for the group photo on friday (5:30pm). Since the damn is on our way, I say we stop there first as Cosmic suggested, meet everyone and get the pic taken before check-in at Village.

Sounds like a plan to me, I don't mind leading , but I have only been down there once and it was at 12:30 in the morning (made for an exhilarating tail ride) so I can't say I would recognize the way in the daylight.

I was down twice last year so if ya'll don't mind a piston car taking the lead I'll get us there. I promise I won't slow ya'll down when we get to the Tail and Hellbender 28. We need to leave as soon as possible so if ya'll can get out of Lexington sooner that would be great. I'll leave for London, KY. very early and hang out there just incase ya'll can leave earlier. I hope we have rain free weather.

Sounds good to me, and don't worry about slowing us down, Friday would not be a very good day to speed in, from what I have been told, radar and fuzz on full alert.
