CARAVANS for those traveling EAST 64/S65 Or S75

UPDATE 1 Decided Meeting time in both in Louisville and Cincy will be 8:00 leaving by 9:00. Both groups LEAVING Lexington around noon.
UPDATE 2 Poll added
UPDATE 3 Date Decided for caravan to be Friday 4/29
UPDATE 4 Times Changed to allow us to arrive earlier and to account for a gas stop. We should only need one.
Update 5 Locations added.
Fuztputz And I have are working out the idea of setting up a caravan everyone traveling through Lexington via I64 or I75. We are planning on staying all three days so this would be a caravan down on the first day.

Those traveling down I64/65 into Louisville/Lexington will meet up there, those traveling down 75 will meet in Cincy or Lexington and then we will all meet in Lexington for the final drive down to The Gap. Those who are interested post up and this post will be updated as more of this is organized.

Peace,
B

Some of the toronto guys are going through that way, Windsor/Detroit guys going that way too, I'm not sure if any toledo guys are going but I'd like if they jumped in the caravan. Personally I'd like to meet up in Cinci. Anyone going from Cleveland or Dayton could jump along too.
it would be a sensational hummmmmmmmmmmm.

Pretty Much if you are coming from the north DG than you will likely pass through one of these two cities, and almost certainly Lexington.

fuztupnz 01-05-2011 09:34 AM

Yeah, pretty much any one in Ohio and north or west of it will probably pass through Cincy. I know of plenty of spots in the area that can handle a lot of cars meeting up. Depending on the time of day, and the number of cars, I can probably arrange for breakfast/lunch whatever at my cars and coffee spot. We can easily assemble there, as it's just a few minutes out of downtown Cincy and close to 71/75, get some grub, then head to Lexington and meet up with those coming from the west through Louisville.

Has anyone checked in on the RX7club to see if they have anything set up? I think it would be awesome to have all of the rotary's together for a caravan down.

HiFlite999 01-05-2011 03:32 PM

Count me in!

Chad D. 01-05-2011 05:55 PM

Yeah, I've been following the 7club canada thread and there are some guys from toronto going the buffalo way, some from london and around me that are cruising together. Hiflite, I can meet you on vernor somewhere or at clark park in mexican town, depending on hour of the day. lol.

Dirt_Nasty 01-05-2011 09:03 PM

The only thing, besides where to meet, I really have to figure out is the timing. We would be going down the first night, and it is about a 4 hour drive from Lexington to Deals Gaps, so I would think that a noon-ish meeting time in Lexington might work, Leave there by one . So meeting in Louisville At 9:30ish and leaving by 10:30ish. What are your all's thoughts?

so breakfast meet in Cincinnati? what time should we plan on being in that part of the world.

Dirt_Nasty 01-06-2011 09:28 AM

I think that Fuz and I we both agree that a 9:30 meet in Cincy and In Louisville and leaving by 10:30, with all of us meeting in Lexington at noon would be good. That is Unless DGRR varies the itinerary from last year.

Op has been updated.

Did I miss something? The dates are given as Apr29-May1 which is 3 days. :dunno:

TopGear8 01-06-2011 11:44 AM

^You are right, but if you book a room for 2 nights you get a 3rd night free, either Thursday night or Sunday night...

The event thread says the 28th, and I believe the dgrr page originally said the 28th :dunno:

anywho, with the third night free, I'm down for the 28th still. Get down there early, and not have to worry about getting there "on time"

If everyone wants to do friday the 29th instead, I'll use my free night for sunday night.

Back on track to meeting. Yes, I'm thinking 9:30 in cincinnati and leaving by 10:30 to head to lexington. I'll talk to the coffee shop owner that does the usual cars and coffee and let him know we'll be there so there's enough food and drink for everyone, once we're a little more established on what day and who's coming.

Dirt_Nasty 01-06-2011 05:09 PM

This is something I had not realized. So when is everyone planning on coming down?

Edit: Poll added

We still need to figure out where we are going to meet in Lexington. Anyone have any suggestions.

Hooters off the highway.

Perfect! The guy who took my solo reservation said he'd put me down for 2 in case I got lucky on the way. Now that I have both BHR coils and the hi-flow fuel pump, what lass could possibly resist me?:fingersx:

fuztupnz 01-07-2011 01:18 PM

Ok, I have chatted with herblenny and Dirt a bit. Dirt and I are thinking Friday to go down since the vast majority of people will be coming in on the 29th. We'll probably be able to get a bigger caravan that way. Plus, those staying 3 nights will have all day sunday to hang out when most of the crowd is still there vs. all day Friday when no one is there.

Dirt_Nasty 01-07-2011 03:27 PM

I think that this may be the best bet.

Chad D. 01-07-2011 04:05 PM

Oh well, I'm going up on Thursday and staying until Tuesday now.
I'll see you guys there though.
If anyone is going up on Thursday, hit me up.

Dirt_Nasty 01-07-2011 07:19 PM

We haven't decided for sure when, and it doesn't really matter to either of us, we are just trying to do this when ever the MOST people are coming down, whether it's Thursday or Friday. We just want to get the biggest hum we can coming through the woods.

fuztupnz 01-07-2011 10:02 PM

Just registered! I'll have to do Friday regardless after talking to my old man. The only way he'll be able to come with me is if we do Friday to Monday. He'd have to head south on wednesday for us to leave thursday morning, and won't be able to get the 3 week days off in a row for work at that time in the year.

If there is a group going both days, I'll see what I can do to meet everyone in Cincy on thursday if they still choose to. I'm planning on caravaning on Friday with anyone else going down.

HiFlite999 01-08-2011 07:54 AM

I'd registered for Fri-Sun nights. A 9:30 meetup in Cinci is reasonable considering the remaining distance and that somebody in the group will probably have turbo/massive injectors or whatever and have to stop for gas ever 180 miles. However, to do it on the same day, I'd have to be on the road starting at 4:30 am (ugh). So I'll likely drive to Cinci on Thursday evening and overnight there, so I can get up that morning at a normal time. Getting to the mountains during daylight is a good idea considering the roads and potential for fog at night.

MY thoughts exactly, plus the first time I drove the first time I drove the tail it was 1:30 in the am, exhilarating as hell but not something I would want to do with ANYBODY behind me.

I think Friday is the best bet, with what everyone has said, and seeing, as after talking to the wife she will be busy that Thursday morning.
