And you thought shoveling was bad!

Me and my buds were going out for lunch one day and we spotted this car that was trenched in snow. So, this is a tribute to all the hard working snow-shovelers out there.

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to you all.

God Bless you guys,

Ben.

My girlfriend is in Main for the next 2 weeks and she sent me a picture message with something similar. My response, "I could never live there"

Don't get me wrong, I love the snow just couldn't deal with having to shovel my car out, rust proof the undercarraige, have winter wheels / tires, etc etc.

Not only that, but how would I be able to Zaino my car in that???

I can't stand the winter months here!! It's absolutely horrendous.

I love California!! I visited once, and fell in love with the place.
I realize you run a higher risk of losing your life, and your home (due to the earthquakes), but the weather is always nice and the women! Oh man, the women!! lol

Alas, I would prefer to live without fear of dieing on my way to work. So I stay in this winter hell hole!

Yeah, that would suck....although, my RX-8 was under a lot of snow that I had to "clean" off to get out before the driveway was even cleaned!

Hah, you're luck at that....I don't even get garage status! So, I'm looking into getting a car cover. I dunno if I will buy an "authentic" RX-8 one, or a generic one....it shouldn't matter if it covers the car right?

Man, why would anybody leave their car like that?

I also hate this winter weather (not a skier or anything remotely like that). I lived in Ottawa for over 20 years and now in London for 17 years. Much better here but still sucks. Headed to Ottawa tomorrow or Monday for the holidays. Hope the RX8 rocks the snow. Some times I make this xmas trip and the 401 is just great and other times it's a nightmare. I might bring my camera and take some holiday shots of the 8 at various points along the route and in town.

I'll be on the lookout for the Ottawa 8 crew!

Best of the season to all you guys and gals. Keep on humping, pie-ing, and flaming the non-searchers. Haha.

I'm on my way to Kingston tomorrow afternoon. I'll wave if I see a BB on the 401.

If the car is going to stay outside a car cover could help. Gotta make sure it's breathable. Or you run the risk of damaging the paint. In some circumstances a cover helps, in others it's worse.
I say leave it without a cover and then come spring get her all cleaned up and waxed! Doing a proper wax job helps 10x more than getting a cover if the car is going to stay outside.

Thankfully there are some of us who have garages.

unfortunately that's what we have to put up with living up here... I drove my car in the first snow cuz my daily driver isnt ready for pick-up yet... and it broke my heart seeing how dirty and how much dirt it gets on the car!!

And just like Footman said, gave it a nice detail and few layers of wax after I got my daily, she's staying in the garage until the road gets better!!

If you leave it for a while with enough snow on it so that there's a little pressure on the car, the snow will "hold" a bit on the car but it will never really "stick".

However you'll get a fine layer of ice, up to 3/4 of an inch thick, on level surfaces such as hood, roof and trunk lid. It's the bottom layer of snow being compressed by the snow over it that turns into ice. Gotta be carefull when removing it so that you don't scratch/dent the surface. Be warned, it doesn't take weeks to form, a day or two under a foot of snow will be enough for a fine layer.

As for having a cover on the car... I still would regularly make sure to remove any snow piling up on the cover. Although I've heard people say that a car completely under snow will be more protected than one standing outside in a cover *shrug* dunno

Anyhow the real damage is made by salt and sand on the roads. If you don't regularly drive your car in winter, it won't get too messed up.
