Some help on buying...

My friend is planning on getting a car, and he has already saved up 42,000 dollars. I was just wondering if He can get the Rx-8 GT with moon roof with that much money. He would be willing to pay cash and all, but the dealers havn't give him a response... By the way, we live in Mississauga...and it would really help if you can tell me if any dealers are willing to do this, or if this is impossible...

sure, if he can haggle a dealer down. just go into a dealership, anywhere, and talk to them. that's what they're there to do: make deals.

i don't think he'd be able to get a GT with all the options without financing just a little bit, but i'm sure he'd be able to afford the $30/month over a year to finance the difference from his unbelievably large downpayment.

I think your friend might be about $5000 short. You might have to talk the dealer down quite a bit.

Doubtful. If you're in Ontario, you have to consider the 14% GST/PST. MSRP for the GT w/roof is 40595, with the taxes that comes to $46278. You need to get a $4K discount - that's pretty unlikely.

Gordon

Slight correction, it's actually 7% GST and 8% PST for a total of 15% tax in Ontario.

We suck worst!

My wallet wasn't happy when I got the car. :p

Sorry, us Albertans can never remember what the rest of you have to pay for PST... 7% here, 8% there, it's so confusing. Much easier to just remember 7% GST, done! :p

Gordon
