New Winnipeg, Manitoba thread!
Hey All, Looking for a bit of advise for my car. I finally got into an Rx this summer (16 year old me would be proud). The previous owner installed aftermarket exhaust without a cat and now the check engine light comes on after an hour-ish of driving (after the code is cleared). There really is nothing more annoying than a dash light!
I've ready some articles about mechanical fixes you can do at the CO sensor, but was more intrigued about getting it reprogrammed to ignore this sensor. Does anyone have any local contacts that would be able to do this sort of thing? It's a bit over my head and it sounds like you need some equipment to do it. I'm out of Brandon, but am in Winnipeg often enough.

Unfortunately, Dean is right. You either need to track down an accessport for sale (keep in mind the software only works on windows 7) or buy Mazdaedit or versatune and get somebody to mask it for you. My suggestion would be to get the Mazdaedit and talk to forum member Brettus about having him do up a tune for you.
Or the cheapest option of them all, just live with it ha.

Apparently my response was left in limbo b/c I tried to attach a pic lol. I bought it privately in Brandon. I believe it is phantom blue (I always thought it looked more green than blue!)
That's awesome, pm me, I have stuff for you. The paint looking more green than blue is the phantom blues signature look! I hope you know that car had a misfire issue at the top of 4th and I still have the lifetime warranty certificate for the BHR coils from RX8soldier, It occurred to me after I sold it that that may be the problem, I have stock parts too if you care.

I replaced them with stocks at the Mazda dealership in town.
I'll PM you for sure. I'd love to have whatever I can on the history. It may not be the rx7 I dreamed of as a kid, but it sure is fun to drive.
Those coils caused me a lot of stress because the car started stalling out while idling and I thought for sure the engine was cooked like months after I bought it :p.

Hey I remember seeing that one for sale on Kijiji, glad to see she sold and is on the road!! I got my 40th Anniversary one back in April and I'm itching to get her back on the road after this damn winter is over!!
Hey guys, local Winnipeger here! Bought a Grey 2009 R3 last July, currently stored for the winter until roads are nice enough to drive on again. We should put together an RX8/Rotary meet up in the spring time, would love to meet all of you and go for a nice cruise! I'm in the south end near U of M.
Where in winnipeg do they service rx8's and do tunes?
Its in the title and also my rex has been in the garage on a jack stand all winter with a full tank and disconnected battery is she fine or did i **** something up??? Is it fine if i didnt start the engine at all once??
Not sure about any shops that specialize in rotary in the city, but there was a add in Kijiji for a shop that did south of the city but the add is gone now sorry. As for storage I have done the same with mine (first time winter storing a vehicle) so I hope all will be well. I do plan on replacing the oil and turning over the engine by hand before actually starting to make sure nothing is seized. I did take my battery out and put it inside so it wouldn't freeze tho.
Rx8 ignition kit
If anyone can tell me which store in winnipeg has spark plugs, coils and wires for the rx8 or what site amd kit has all three that can get shipped here id be happy to know. Preety much need to know how and where to buy. Thanks in advanced... Cheers amd keep braping

My thoughts on the turning by hand has more to do with the tight tolerances in respect to the apex, corner and side seals that have been sitting for 6+ months. Would rather get them moving with grunt power rather than hit them with full-on starter torque. Might be over kill, but I got her with only 42K so kind of feel responsible for her upkeep. Your fresh oil for storage is a very good point!!
Pre-storage (6 months winter): oil change, fuel stabilizer, tire pressure, park, remove battery and place on tender. If you have a rodent problem, prepare for that.
Post-storage: ensure battery is fully charged, replace battery, turn key to on, prime fuel, fire her up, take her out and drive around until engine reaches operating temps, happy rotaring 🙂

Piston Ring for plugs. Amazon for the rest.
