R.P.M,

Seeing your forum name made me think of this. There's a great rotary mechanic in Bresleau. Shop is called "RPM Motorsports". The guy's name is Joe and he's done excellent work for me and others here.

Well, you can keep it beeping until the coolant starts to overheat, which happens a lot sooner than you think on a non-race car. You will also burn out the coil packs quicker since it has to work overtime to put out enough sparks. For normal day to day street driving, you don't have to worry about any of this.

To prevent carbon build-up (a very real problem with the rotary engine), mix Redline SI-1 fuel cleaner with your gas. You can get it at Canadian Tire for $10 a bottle. One bottle will treat 300L of gas. I store it in the little storage cubby in the ski passthru.

Only beeped in 3rd once or twice

You gotta beep from 1st to 5th atleast once (at your own risk lol)

Guys, I'm getting better at beeping. Managing to hold the beep in 1st and 2nd for 10 seconds or more but then I run out of road. Still haven't reached the lofty goal of beeping in any higher gear but I'll keep trying. I'm just not that close to a highway.

Anyhow, let's keep it happening. Better weather is coming and I just can't wait.

3rd gear.. I usualy shift around 9300 rpm. The tach is off by 500 anyways, so it's all good. You don't have to shift at 8500rpm when it starts to beep.

At 9300rpm in 3rd gear, it's roughly around 147 km/h.

^ Yeah, I need to hit the highway to get 3rd to beep. No I don't intentionally shift just cause it starts to beep, of course. I want to prolong it for a while but not hit cut off.

I want to do that safely... Is it possible to organize a group of people and just rent out the Downsview airstrip for a day to host some event to flat out our RX-8's for fun?

I generally won't redline 1st. But I redline 2nd and 3rd at least twice a day and probably hold it at redline for about 2-3 full seconds in 3rd. No real reason that I keep it there in 3rd though.....other than the particular place where I do this.
