Good Transmission Rebuilding Shops
I own a 2004 RX-8 GT with 55,000km and recently my tranny has been acting up on me. Reverse gear is basically shot, wont catch the gear at all. Only normal working gears are 1,56. I brought it to mazda and they told me that they needed to open up the tranny to look at it they wanted 480$ just to look. So they told me my best bet is to find a used one or get it rebuilt. When i pull it out in the spring i wanna take it to a shop right away to get repaired. Does anybody know any reliable transmission shops in the gta?
How much do you think this would cost?
Thanks guys

Not an expert on the issue but I think you should only get the series II transmission no point going with the same unreliable unit.
Contact some race teams they always have spares maybe they can sell you one. Try Can - Saf and see if Kurt has anything: http://www.can-saf.com/contact.html
You can always shoot Al a pm he may give you some guidance.

If the trans is still in the car thats why the dealer wants $480.00 to look at it, 4 hours labor to remove the gearbox probably and another hour to inspect it. If the trans is out of the car, the only really professional transmission guy I know is Jamie Houseman he is on London Ontario. I am pasting a link, Jamie actually make racing trans and build a lot of Spec Miata racing trans:

Thanks guys. Yeah the tranny is still in the car. I'm not really looking to buy a brand new s2 one. Mine only has 55,000km so I'm hoping that its only a couple of things that are going to need replacing
