GI: Feeler for Install Meet on May 24 Weekend
#176
O, and also, to talk about on Sunday, wanna get an idea whos free for the sunday two weekends from now. Sean at Street Power wants to organize a BBQ at his shop, shops in Mississauga, and introduce himself to the 8 community a little bit more. Also we were talking into getting a gauge pod up and going. He has a prototype put in the 8 hes working on. Looks amazing, imagine the lotek gauge pod as a factory piece, And it goes with the car, since guages face straight on, I really liked it when I saw it today.

I am The One!
Pros!
You the man!! I can't wait for Sun.!
I'm really worried about Footman.
I hope he's alright. Did he tell you why he got admitted??
I hope it's nothing serious.
That's pretty cool how he still got his Mom to call 1 of us up and give us an update.

I hope Footman's OK
Surgery is never a simple thing...
Guys, I need to know where to get some 5w20. I just got a CEL tonight and when I opened the hood, the oil cap was somehow off. I'm guessing the two are probably related. Any advice? I'm used to using Pennzoil, would it be OK to just add another brand?

Footman Meet
Since Footman can't make it out I was thinking we all go and see him on Sunday. Maybe before he meet or after, maybe we can wheel the guy out on the nice day. I know I'm making it out to see worse then he is, but hes probably bummed that hes missing out. So let me know if you guys would like that, I'll find out the visiting hours on Sunday.

Sorry, a bit off topic ... but I'm having a heck of a time trying to make a decision around wheels/tires and have a question for you. Do you or anyone you know, have experience with really low profile tires like 35's? Are they going to be too rough for an 8? I would like to shed at least 7 pounds per corner and going with lower profile tires can really help with weight reduction. (i.e. 235X40X18 or 245X35X18).

and they don't look nice on a really big wheel 19 or 18s they only looks nice on 21s and belong on a humber..

Dont think its bad, but just to be safe I would go with the same, and then swtich to a new brand after an oil change.
I hope Footman's OK

Re: tire profile
Probably not the best idea. Like Turboeight says, your wheels will be more easily damaged, it will look silly, and also it will throw off your speedo. You'll rack up the odometer faster which is so unfair.
If you're so focussed on light weight, go to 17" forged wheels though this quest probably isn't worth it in the long run. You may notice something (placebo or not) for the first week then you'll get used to it. If you're just looking for feel, it may be as simple as buying a tire with a firmer sidewall. That will make your inputs feel more direct.

Guys, I FAIL at beer. I was gonna get about 15 Alpines (east coast beer) for the meet, but the guy (my manager) sold em to someone else. So it looks like it won't be microbrewery stuff. And I'm gonna have to get them tomorrow when LCBO opens.

It was a great meet!
We got alot done. And there's still more to do!
I got some crazy sunburn. I lost my ability to tan.
Gotta get some sun screen for the Miata.
Love the pics Darkbrew!

yeah... that's for everything guys.
Learned a lot about the 8's which pretty much cemented the fact that I'll be getting one as soon as I can in July. You'll be seeing me again once that happens... with luck with an intake and yet another exhaust to install

man I wish I could have been there....I was still considering getting there eben though I got back to Kingston from Ottawa at 2pm.......although I did go to the track and embarrased some s2000 owners and a corvette owner.......to be fair I think he was just learning to drive the vette?? On a positive note....there was one s2000 that I was very close to in speed and lap times...he had race header, intake and full exhaust and racing tires.....we did the back straight to get a feel to see if there was a differece in speed in a striaght line....I launched better tahn him......and we were dead even all the way to the run off....I mean DEAD even.....I was pretty happy...he was impressed but I know next time he will be back with more parts cause they have a majical supply of money Scott....how is the pulley? Jay can you stand the loudness of your exhaust? I am so coming to the next meet!!!

UPDATE:
WCS is gonna be heading back my way next weekend. I'm looking at starting a new thread called INSTALL MEET PART 2 and BDAY Bash.
It'll be my bday next week too, so looking to let the 8 rip. I figure with a meet next weekend, we could also do Andrew's exhaust and Theifs fluids. Darkbrew and Proficientone I got your prices for the tailights. Much less than 300, they dropped in price. Check your pms for prices.
Neo got your price for the door piano black finish, check your pm.
Gecko, sadly 2 lock nuts are keeping my car away from being run. The bolts that connect the midpipe to the centre pipe of the exhaust are a differnet thread then the ones from oem. I cant just swap the bolts since they are welded on the midpipe. Contacted B&B today, but I hear its a US holiday.
So once again, if I could get an idea who would be interested in coming up here for Part 2, I could make a thread. Essentially it would be Footman's exhaust, Darkbrew's tailight, Profientone's taillight, Theifs Fluids, and maybe Thunder's Coil Upgrade and or Mazsport Midpipe if it comes in this week.
What do you all think?
In any case, WCS is stil heading up here next weekend to pick up his stuff, so there will be a meet with at least him, me, footman, turboeight, profientone, and r888 possibly.

Next weekend.. as in the weekend of the 7th?
I can do the Sun. again. Sat. I'm booked.
This would be very cool! Another install meet! Hope the weather holds.
