FINALLY got my wheels!
FINALLY got my wheels!
Just picked them up from the store today. I was worried the earthquake in Japan was gonna slow the shipment but good thing the ship left before it happened. Now I'm pondering whether I should have my dealer install them when I have my car serviced tomorrow or bring them to a professional tire shop to get them to do it..... any difference?

Oh, and the Japanese come up with the most hilarious pictures for their instuction booklets LOL I think the one where the wheel's getting curbed resembles my own facial expression when I did that to my stock rims lol

I'd definately go to an aftermarket tire place. someone with a really good rep.
I drove 2 hours to get mine tire swapped the last time (insides to outside, I have rather, umm, extreme camber settings). The local dealership here is good for most things, but they send all their tire work out to a local place, and I don't trust them.
And you shouldn't have any problems with rubbing, I don't imagine. I was running 265/35s on 42 offsets this summer with no problem.

SO I got them mounted today and first off, the major difference I felt was the ride. The pavement on broadway was full of manhole covers and badly patched over ashphalt, on the way there I remember the ride with stock wheels aren't harsh but it took a while for the suspension to settle (like bump, bump, and bounce, bounce before it settles). After I mounted the ce28s the ride was basically just "bump bump" and no bouncing or rebouding at all, the suspension jsut took the bumps and settled right back down.
I weighed the stock wheels with the tires off while the techs were mounting them and they were a whopping 23.5-24lbs each. So I shaved about 7.5-8lbs of weight off with the 16lb ce28s. That's a weight reduction of 1/3rd of the stock weight!
It might be because of the M reflash I got this morning or it could be the new wheels, but I noticed it was a lot easier to accelerate in midrange. The car also seem to take less slipping of the clutch to inch forward in rush hr traffic.
So far no rubbing at all, I tried lock to lock steering on an incline at my garage and so far so good!
Anyway, here are some pics with them mounted.
yea there's a shop that sells replicas of them (volk racing stuff seems to be like knockoff LV in the car world or something!)that are almost 20% of the real thing's price. But the replicas are cast, not forged and I hear that they're light as well but you'll bend them on the first pot hole.
